End of the Ptolemies

Author File Description

File Details
Roman Expansion in North Africa was stopped by the Egyptian Kingdom of the Ptolemies around 44 B.C. Caeser, therefore, is planning a war against the Ptolemies. He has chosen you, the trusted governor, to establish a trade and supply center at the site of Sabratha, located west of Cyrene and south of Syracusa on the North African coastline. You are expected to support Rome's war effort against the Ptolemies, defend yourself against occasional Egyptian invasions, and at the same time, build a prosperous port city.
The province itself is large and, though being located in the desert, rich in resources. The population can be easily fed by fishing, and farmland is evenly spread. However, Caeser will be often asking for iron and weapons, and their prices will increase drastically as demand soars.

Caeser attempted to conquer the Egyptian Kingdom of the Ptolemies in 48-47 B.C. During the campaign, Caeser fell in love with Clepotia, sister of the Egyptian king. However, Caeser was assasinated in 44 B.C. in front of the Seneta in Rome. His successor, Augustus, managed to stabilize Roman politics by establishing the second Triumvirate. In 34 B.C., Antonia, the governor of Egypt, married Clepotia and later attempted to split the eastern half of the Roman Republic away and give it to Clepotia. This, however, failed. Augustus first defeated his political rivals in Rome and then killed Antonia in 30 B.C. In 27 B.C., Augustus was given the title of Princeps, who is virtually an emperor. This marks the beginning of the Roman Empire.

Hints and Tips:
Two wars are to be fought during your governorship (48 B.C. and 30 B.C.). Rome will request a lot of iron and weapons, so be prepared. There will also be distant battles and Egyptian invasions. Entry point is located at the lower corner, where the wild animals are living. City fund is limited, so establish export quickly.
