The location is Cilicia, the city of Tarsus. It is 89BC and Rome no longer wishes to put up with the strife and intrigue among the petty kingdoms of Asia Minor. After the incorporation of the Pergamon empire in 133 it now is the turn of the Seleukid empire, it's former strength and splendor long gone, it's puppet rulers appointed by Rome or it's rivals. The assignment consists of building a medium sized city and achieving moderate rates within 25 years while under attack by desperate Seleukid armies, fighting for their independence. The difficulty lies in the scarcity of timber north of the Tarsus mountains and the near lack of iron and marble south of it. To make matters worse, the only available passage in between is threatened by seismic activity. Try to find an alternative before the road to Rome is blocked. Clay and olives have to be imported so trade will be one of the main concerns during the game. Military strategy is hampered by the lack of a military academy, but the terrain gives ample opportunity to play with the enemy, beware they got javelins too. The native villages are not to be bothered as there are no missions available. Requests are plenty at first, but after a while they stop for a long period only to reappear in the endgame, then at almost impossible levels, so don't forget to keep the emperor happy with bribes. Good luck. Rank: Proconsul
