Although the island is well-endowed with farmland, the soil is suitable only for olive and vine farms. Fishing will provide you with one type of food and you neighbors are willing to trade large amounts of wheat, and some fruit and vegetables. Clay and/or pottery will also have to be imported onto the island. Funding these imports should prove easy as the island is rich in resources, including iron and marble. A large variety of goods will be asked of you, providing many opportunities to prove the island's value and to achieve the high favor rating asked of you.
The consolidation of the island left it uninhabited so you will not have any natives to worry about. The third Punic war and subsequent Spanish wars have left few threats to the security of the western Mediterranean. As a result, this part of the empire should prove about as dangerous as the sheep that inhabit it.
