The Empire is in grave danger, with barbarians pouring in from the north. The Goths in particular are fierce warriors, who are pushing further south every year. We must make our stand here, at lake Benacus, to protect Italia.
No doubt, smaller scouting parties will arrive before the main forces of their army. We expect them to attack from the northwest and the northeast. Set up your defenses and don't let the enemy through. To support such a heavy military presence, a large amount of people will be needed. A city of 10 000 should suffice.
There is plenty of arable land and the lake and rivers are full of fish. Your city should be self sustainable, disregarding luxury goods.
Should you fail, there may not be a Rome to return to.

Everything works, the map is fun to play.
Balance: 4
Pretty well balanced, attacks are good, maybe too friendly, as there were no uprisings. Towers were not needed.
Money does not explode before patrician taxes come up, which is always good.
As it could be beaten in a "One Shot" (Julius, very hard), it is a rather medium challenge I think.

Beautiful designed map.
Many areas were not settled, but they look good.

Again, a very nice map that is very easy to play.
Food and space in abundance, no rats, no fire, and a variety of trading opportunities.
The way for the trade caravans is quite long, so you should think about what you want to trade with.
As usual, the strength of the invasions increases very slowly, so only slow players need to adequately fortify their city.
