After countles expeditions the investments have finally paid off. Your ship has managed to sail westwards from hispania until after some months, your desperate crew has reached a new land, previsously unknown to Rome. It will hence forth be called Septentrionalem Terram. From what we have seen of the new land, it is heavily forested and rugged landscape with weather conditions not favoring olives or vines. From what we have seen of the local populace, they are vile and vicious barbarians that we have not encountered before. After replenishing supplies and repairíing the ship it was time to go back and report this new discovery.
From the grace of Emperror Nero, you as a renowned trader and explorer have been chosen to be best fit to lead an expedition to Septentrionalem Terram. Empire is in a dire need of quality timber and related products as well as weapons. Go there and establish a colony that will exploit the new lands in the name of Rome. Our great fleet will provide you with supplies and transport capacity required for project of such undertaking. Ships will arrive at the shore regularely to drop off new roman immigrants as well as supplies so your main worry will be defense of the colony and exploiting its natural resources to the fullest potential. The sheer distance that needs to be covered can cause some issues further down the line so investing into a lighthouse to safely guide our ships would be prudent. I have also taken a liberty of sending an expedition in advance to consturct a stone bridge to impress the locals and ease the logistics aspect of the missions.
Long term goals of the settlement are to establish a permanent city that would be almost self sufficient and prepare the ground for further colonisation of surrounding areas. Take heed of the locals governor. They have already shown contempt for our presence and you should expect heavy resistance to our presence and goals.
TIPS
-First 4 attacks are there to show off invasion points. Smart governor would take note of these areas to freely exploit rest of the exposed edges.
-Forum for taxation is unavailable so make best use of the exports available. Lighthouse is a necessity. |

Salve CaesarPizza,
thank you for taking your time to write a review. Regarding the invasion point that is behind the small creek, map was made as redemption for Baron and therefore i had to make it resemble area near rl Ottawa as that was his wish. I do not usually do rl maps for obvious reasons, gameplay should always come first than looks or arbitrary terrain features that are there "cause they should" regardless of it makes sense in the game.
For this reason i had to slap invasions points somewhere when the map was done. In hindsight i should have propably removed that specific invasion point, it does not really contribute anything but its a pain to go back after save editing.
Did you go for forced walkers? [Edited on 08/13/22 @ 10:25 AM]

@marekvazny
First of all, thanks for explaining the design.
I did not go for forced walkers for the forum but for market and other things. the export is more than enough early game.
One thing I like is the use of Pantheon is another way to win on this map beside upgrade the casa with pottery and furniture to meet the 95 prosperity.
This is my luxury blocks.

That is crafty. I like that design. This map can be very tough. I find that even the once irreplacable marble quarry is a huge boon. |

Salve ibogdandx,
thank you for taking a time to compile a review of the map. Im glad you liked it and it proved a challenge. Its one of my rare maps, where its actually made to resemble a real life area but the extra quirks like forums and single quarry make it more interesting imo.
I hope you find some of my other maps intriquing as well. Not speaking of the recent ones but you can check the list on my profile. Even those in scenario category can be beaten in Augustus. |

Salve Matt, thanks for the review and playing the map. The villas look great. I like that pantheon actually makes sense to invest into on this map. :) Overall i would agree with the Augustus offering more tools to deal with things but dont forget that if you are master of the game, you can abuse Julius with 25% constant tax and small casa everywhere. In Augustus i think the levy makes the economic aspect harder, not to mention hippodrome and colloseum with importer marble compared to just slap it down in vanilla. I loved Julius and vanilla back then but cant go back now. |

omg it's too difficult for me) I failed all the goals such as time, prosperity, imperator, and even peace goal) Struggling with money as well. The absence of wells is a challenge as well as I'm playing with citizens who are looking for a house to start working. As a result, a lot of crimes and lost money. Design is perfect and very interesting to play with, thank you for this hard work! |
