This scenario is based on the premise of a long-abandoned city discovered by scouts. Your mission is to rebuild it to magnificent splendour.
I would rate this as extremely challenging up to intermediate level players (like me!).
All the resources you need are there, but this is an abandoned and over-grown place; some assets will not be easily found. You may have to endure multiple re-starts!
If you take on this challenge you are in for a very long (and hopefully enjoyable) game.
This scenario is fully tested. |

As the author said the map has been tested and it took me a few tries to complete it. I have the gist on how to complete it, just the last invasions kinda threw you off guard...
Balance: 4
If you are familiar with building a mega sized city then you know where the money comes from. If anything, the scale of the invasions AND the timing of the local invasions should be toned down abit in my opinion.
Creativity: 4
Not sure if intended or not but the maze entry makes it really slow for peasants to start coming in. Doesn't really matter much in the end, but the beginning of the game players should take note of it.
Map Design: 4
Maybe allow two docks area? I find it really makes things alot smoother especially at the beginning.
Story/Instructions: 5
I don't really care much about this huehuehue...

100 criteria for all, the map could have been cleaner but at this stage, spamming buildings like academies and temples is just for the sake of reaching 100 culture. I just wanted to complete the game before the favor drops down again.
Also hint for players trying to reach 50k pop, try to plan out how many housing / palace blocks you need. Palace needs THREE food sources and one of them are quite limited. |

Thanks for taking the time to give my map a review.
All of the design features that you mention were put in place to make the scenario more challenging.
No mention of whether you actually enjoyed the map or not! I hope you did. |

haha if it isn't enjoyable i wouldn't strive to build a 50k pop city
i think i played some of your earlier large pop maps before but i never really posted a review, maybe after the new augustus patch i'll go revisit them too |

Thanks again for your comments and I am delighted you enjoyed the map. I am not looking for critical acclaim just the knowledge that people do or don't like the scenarios I make. As you already mentioned I do much prefer the very big population cities, and as long as people seem to like them then I will continue to upload one from time to time. |

Playability: 2
(25k population is about max for my play style which is every house at Grand Insulae or better.)
Balance: 2
(You can basically produce or import absolutely everything you need to achieve a very high population...except timber. Map is loaded with trees but you cannot produce timber.)
Creativity: 5
(I appreciate anyone who can create. Regardless of median used.)
Map Design: 5
(I appreciate a tough map design)
Story/Instructions: 4
(Eh...could have been more creative with this if you wanted too. Not going to be too harsh on this.)
Additional Comments: I truly wanted to like this campaign. I knew going in it would be a challenge and only had to re start once. Had to get grand temple up and running sooner. So was excited to play. Even with the initial set-back.
What I did not realize was timber was going to be an issue. Thought that another city may open up trade or the existing ones would trade more. I even demolished my lighthouse to save timber.
I currently have 5 completed blocks with 6 palaces. I have another 2 blocks at half capacity and another 4 at partial capacity. Plus 2 more mapped out for the end game push. Currently sitting at just over 25k population. 2 blocks share resources. Every resource is plentiful except furniture. So I am a little bummed that I wont get to see it completed.
I am sure I could make it to the 50k population but I guess a high population does not suit my style of play. There was only a campaign or two in the original game where I couldn't achieve grand isulae or higher and they were the tutorial cities.
So if creating a city simply to fill in every open space with decor and low housing, is your thing, this map may be enjoyable to you.

I agree with Wastedaces. Although the map certainly is winable you will need to outwait the attacks to build the last 20k pop near edges. The map is very flat and offers plenty of food. Allows for standard boring blocks. The only creative thing is delayed entry by the cliffs and only 2 viable, minable rocks.
Map struggles to keep interest as after you build every possible monument and Patricians with many GI blocks, the goal will still want you to add more just to swell your enemployment. Economy is too easy and after 25k+ pop it just feels pointless.
Military hits hard and there are multiple invasion points on enourmous map. Not great in terms of being forced to build alll the way uo to the edges. So wating out the military is mandatory before last push for 20k+- pop, as there is also no time limit.
Insanely high pop goal might be alluring to some but the concept is misguided. Map would be better as 25k pop goal or even lower

I left clues in the decaying aqueducts but you completely missed the nearer water sources in your stream of my map at the start. Shame that you hated it so much. High population cities are not for everyone but I enjoy them, as do others. I was disappointed that you gave my map such a bad review. I'm simply sharing my enjoyment with others and your negativity was quite surprising. Hope people will take the good reviews into account and not your disparaging comments and score that has skewed the map's overall rating. If you like high population maps then please give it a try - if you don't then don't!
Just discovered the reason for the bad review - he live streamed the scenario on YouTube twice and failed TWICE! He blamed various bugs that didn't exist in my game! Oh dear![Edited on 01/07/23 @ 04:50 PM]

If you increase(5~6ea) the fishing docks, I can create a more wonderful city.[Edited on 11/09/23 @ 12:55 AM]
