Leptis was probably the first Phoenician trading colony in Tripolitania (8th century BC). It first came under the sovereignty of Carthage and then, after the conquest by Numidia, finally under Roman rule (46 BC).
In the Roman Empire, Leptis Magna gained great importance and prosperity as a trading centre for exotic animals from Africa.
During the conflicts between Pompey and Caesar, the city fought against Caesar and was punished after his victory with a tribute of 100,000 hectolitres of olive oil.
Hence the description - African oil for Caesar.
Your task as governor will be to build a flourishing and magnificent metropolis on the coast of Africa. Rome demands a lot, but due to the civil war you can only be provided with a mediocre starting chapter.
Defend yourselves against the Numidian barbarians, fight off the natives or proselytise them and supply Rome with the valuable oil of Tripolitania and other resources. The country is relatively dry, but due to its location on the river Lebda, the land is fertile in many places.
The sea and the bay also offer rich fishing grounds and trade routes can supply you with noble goods from other parts of the Roman Empire. |

Hi,
Thanks for releasing your scenarios with the accompanying storylines. Much appreciated.
Would Berenice and Portus Ostiensis be your designs as well? Wasn't sure because in the Augustus release, they didn't have the LIZZ island lettering on the edge of the map.
The reason I ask is because I've tried playing Berenice and it has a bug when played on either the regular or Julius version. Something to do with the difference in earthquake faults sealing off invasion points and halting immigration. The fault line in an Augustus attempt has an opening for invaders.
This might be corrected if it's ever released in the downloads as well. |

Hi again. Please note that the posted scenario requirements (which are all increased), are not updated on the submitted map. Also, if ever you update, I noticed the invasion point 1 is on raised land. I wasn't sure so I tested enemies here, and the attacks don't occur.[Edited on 10/28/21 @ 03:40 PM]

Dear Eraserhead,
thank you for your message. I'm glad you like my maps.
Berenice and Portus Ostiensis were made by Areldir, the lead artist of the Augustus team. There was a thing with the high ground that changed with augustus, maybe julius. in vanilla it would "clip" with the southern and eastern edge and not create a stonewall on those sides, thus invasion was possible on highground.
That is no longer possible, had to change the same thing on my Brigantium map.
Concerning your other message. Thank you! I did in fact forget to update the map in the zip file, since I made that zip previously and tested the map again after that. Gonna update that file.
Invasion point 1 is no longer on high ground there and invasion point 5 has no more invasions scheduled. Next to some other changes.[Edited on 10/28/21 @ 05:13 PM]

hello Lizzaran360, thanks a lot for the map!
I'd say it's a normal difficulty, not very hard. The size of the map can be reduced to use all the map for achieving the goals. Military enemies can be much increased, I haven't had any towers to deal with enemies.
Also, I'd recommend decreasing the availability of parks, gardens, and plazas to motivate a player to build Grand Venus Palace.
Map design is very interesting, so I enjoyed relaxing playing of this map) |
