Just as you are crossing the border to the province of Raetia, you reopen the letter that reached you months ago in your comfortable villa in Rome. You fix your eyes anxiously on the land that lies in front of you under a darkening horizon. With trembling lips you read the letter over and over again:
"Governor,
I want the small military camp and fishing village on the banks of the Danube to be expanded into the district capital of the Raetia province.
I entrust you with this important task.
The Helvetii resident there will not be very happy about our increased activity in the region. As far as we know, the people there form a steadily growing army who have sworn not to give up their territory without resistance.
So react early and decisively with a strong expansion of our defense forces.
I will also meet you with a few demands, which, however, should not present any difficulty, since the region is rich in mineral resources, fertile soil and usable trees.
Don't fail. Rome needs a strong border with the wild Germanic north. Rome relies on you and your qualities as a Roman governor.
Emperor Gaius Octavius Augustus"
About the Map
This was the very first map I created. After getting feedback here in the forum, I adjusted the level of difficulty a bit in order to offer experienced players a more challenging version of my map.
This map now features more entry points for enemy units, which also attack the country in greater numbers.
Also, it is now no longer possible to trade with the natives, which in the first version of the map quickly led to overflowing city funds.
Trading of goods is now also adjusted ... it is worthwhile to keep an eye on the prices during the game and to use any opportunities that arise quickly and decisively; good craftsmanship is becoming more and more underappreciated in the empire and lucrative deals pass quickly.
I included the .svx file only for immersion purposes. It just includes a very small hobble village with a small fishing industry and a single Fort to expand the city from. But going straight for the map file is totally ok ;)
My main focus was on immersion: The map largely corresponds to actual occurrences during the period around the founding of Augsburg (Augusta Videlicum) by Emperor Augustus.
The time span of the game includes a number of realistic events from the corresponding period between 15BC and approx. 35 AD (within the limits and possibilities of the game of course)
Not long after the actual founding of the city in 15 BC, in a territory not far from the Limes that divided the wild Germanic north from the civilized roman empire, a natural disaster happened around the year 0 in the form of a torrential flood that swept away the first Roman settlements (represented by a small earthquake at a strategically important point of the map).
The so-called Varus Battle in the Teutoburg Forest is also implemented, where three legions of Rome were killed. In the second half of 9 AD, three Roman legions including auxiliary troops and entourage under Publius Quinctilius Varus suffered a crushing defeat in Germania against a Germanic army led by Arminius, a prince of the Cherusci. (In the game this is represented by the Emperor's demand for a large defense force that leaves the hometown almost defenseless). -> maybe YOU can win the battle of the Teutoburg Forest ;)
And last but not least, the death of Emperor Augustus in the year 29 AD is implemented, as a result of which a small civil war broke out in the empire and led to strong fluctuations in the prices of food and weapons.
All in all I think this map is a very doable assignment and is suitable for players that completed the base game.
Please feel free to leave some feedback; this way I can update the map if necessary and make the game experience more rounded.
You don't need the Augustus Mod to play the map. Have fun :)

all works well

A bit on the easy side, military only 2 entrances which make it very easy to defense. Food is plenty, pottery is enough for at least 9000. Also export of weed is kind of redundant
