It's quite difficult to build luxury palaces without statutes, oracles and plazas.
Another challenge is to make all the fountains and markets looking nicer.
I'm glad to see another run at this map. I hope the economy (price collapses) proved a challange. There was another update in which i made it so you can bridge over near the native cliff to the other bank and some other changes. Notably invasion from road from Rome should spawn properly. The no statues run is INSANE on this map.
-SUMMARY-
-native trade was relied upon in the first few years.
-eastern and southern parts of the map were at first not connected to funnel enemies to the north.
-army was 3 leginaires and 3 javelin auxilaries with academy training along with tower support in problematic areas.
-money snowballed late game but mid game seemed pretty balanced
-in addition to map not having oracles or plaza allowed the statues were also not used. This is extremely difficult chalange. Governors mansions, gardens and large temples were used to buff up desirability where needed.
-housing was evolved gradually with many small casas as the pottery is hard to get to everyone.
-patricians were set up on the southern cliff. 6 luxury palaces. Very hard task to achieve given the maps difficulty and author self imposed statue ban.
-excess labor used in mission posts.
-no salary meant that favor was achieved using the maps requests and distant battles.
-some fishing areas were still available but not needed.
-RATING-
This is the best city built on this map by anyone i saw and that includes streamers. No less than 5 all around is an option to give here. The extensive game knowledge and skills in city planning humble me.
Additional Comments:
Well done Trolgu i hope to see other cities soon. You do such a good job at making hard maps look trivial. I suspect you knew the EQ spot beforehand, as the low ground area near native trade was left unutilised?
