The year is 343 BC. and the Roman senate did agree to send help to Campagnian city of Capua, which was recently besieged by the Samnite tribes. Even though Rome did not wish to wage war upon the Samnites it is a matter of upmost importance, that the city does not fall into their hands, as that would mean that the Samnites, become dominant power in central Italy. Expect them to stop at nothing to capture the settlement so invest in provincial defence as the Campagnians are not known to be competent builders and you are going to have to work with whatever they managed to cobble together in their desperate attempt to stall out the besiegers. The local hillsides are ideal for growing vines which will be you major export along with wine. Locals have also been known to produce fine furniture although large scale deforestation is not available as most laborers have been pressed into the ranks of the military, as we need every able bodied man to do his duty and defend the Republics interests. The city's morale is low so any attempt to incorporate the local populace is going to require large temples to be constructed. Academies for the patricians are also to be kept standing as no more can be constructed. If land for growing wheat proves to be difficult to work with use fishing as the rivers around the city provide abundant fishing grounds. Do not fail the Republic and remember that it falls onto your shoulders to keep Romes allies safe and guide Romes future to glory.
-INSTRUCTIONS-
-map is a save file intended to be played as such
-DO NOT build additional forums until you have 1 unit of academy trained legionaires, 12 towers and 4000 people in your city, this is made to represent the dire conditions of the siege and that the city is secure.
-ONLY build vines farms on the high ground areas or in the western native village.
-all trade routes are open at the start but they are all SEA trade routes. Even though there is plenty of dock space you might want to be conservative with what you sell as space for warehouses is very limited.
-marble is to be imported if you with to appease the gods. You start with several small temples but those will not suffice long term.
-TRIVIA-
-academies and timber yards cannot be replaced. There is one marble quarry preplaced if you can cope with its location.
-enemy invasions start reasonable but expect steady increase in numbers. First attack is expected to come in 3-4 years so focus on economy at first.
-use the initial time and denarii to invest into setting up vines and wine trade, one might even give initial personal savings to the city.
-LOG-
25.08.2021 fixed favor rating requirement, moderately reworked prices, EQ tweak, initial areas redone, moderate rock placement/removal and shoreline adjustment to fit in more wharves, southern fertile area expanded a bit. (thanks to BigBear84 for pointing out price reduction and feedback in general)

What a map, great job. Have become a fan of all your maps. Playing though them one by one, was able to get a pretty big income quite early but otherwise very good map, have every challenge I can think off. Great!!
Ps. Playing on augustus mod, was it intentional that Neptune grand temple resourvir dont work?[Edited on 08/16/21 @ 01:41 AM]

BigBear84 it is good to hear that you enjoyed my maps. You managed to blitz through a lot of them so fast.
Regarding the grand temple to Neptune not giving water for reservoir. I suspect it is because old version of Augustus was used when making the map, so this feature might not have been present then and could be the cause of this here. Otherwise that is actually good because the water is to be scarce.
Otherwise i assume that global labor pool was used as it trivialises the logistics a little bit. Economy was made to be - wine and vines are the most expensive export but only grow them on high ground + iron a weapons expensive import with marble 300 per piece.[Edited on 08/16/21 @ 09:08 AM]

Yes global lobour was used cause never did like having tents around everywhere, i only sell wine + vege and later pottery and never imported any iron. Prefer Javalin and one equites anyway. I like the idea of logistic, but 210 for wine is maybe too high. Exporting wine only using the closest farm area and selling wine to native, allow me to streamroll after second year. 300 marble and earthquake was a nice touch, made me have to rethink lots of things. Great job on that, this the only map that made me had to think outside the box to move around so much export so far, ended up with 10-15 warehouse collecting vine to middle of the map and making wine from there. Love your map, thank you so much for it. Playing another map tonight. Keep up the good job
PS. Could be augustus mod made it a tad easier with lighthouses, temple of mars and all but did find this map to be one of the easier one out of the few map i've play by you so far.[Edited on 08/16/21 @ 09:29 AM]
