The year is 63 BC and Pompey Magnus defeated cilician pirates in several engagemnts, which brought whole province of cilicia under roman control. You'r task will be to take control of area near Greeco-Persian city state of Tarsus and establish profitable roman colony. The locals will not take kindy to our intrusion and since they are of Hellenic origin no small temple is going to to encourage them to seek roman citizenship. You will therefore need to rely on large temples going forward if you wish to expand your city. The funds provided are meager as most of them were instead sent to Pompey for his service to the republic. Site of the city is supposedly rich in iron but veins are deep beneath the surface and you will need to use local sources so defend them well. Apart from dealing with locals you will be forced to take action against the hostile city state of Pergamum which does have claims of its own on this province. Its unlikely that they will be able to field many forces as of right now, but prepare your defences well as the city of Pergamum is reportedly hiring many mercenaries and in time they will be able to send huge attacks against your city.
-INSTRUCTIONS AND TRIVIA-
-DO NOT build addtional iron mines until you reach 5000 citizens, this is early game challange made to represent large scale mining operations needing big city to support it.
-mission is mostly economical with attacks becoming more abnoxious near the end.
-Make use of prebuilt forums iron mines and small temples as you cant build more..
-take your time, scenario and prices are set up in a way to stretch progress over longer period.
-Natives can be traded with in the north.
-if fertile land for fruit farms proves difficult to work with or scarce use fishing.
-largest invasions come in the last 10-15 years. If you are interested in fighting you can intentionally hold out as the requests near end offer extended time to save up favor.
-Pergamum fields a lot of archers so heavy infantry with javelin and tower support is best to counter them.
-you can make use of one preplaced wines farm
-map is Augustus and Julius compatible but not balanced specificaly with those in mind.
-no hippodrome can be built.
-LOG-
12.07.2021 fixed the iron availiblitiy, fixed bugged native meeting hut, reworked the initial areas to include 2 more forums, wines farm and some other buildings
17.07.2021 added 400 more starting denarri + one more iron mine and some more tents.

Additional Comments:
This is a very varied and challenging scenario.
The good news is that there is more than enough food and space on the map.
But prices for export goods are relatively low. So you have to plan the houses at the existing forums so that as many as possible are visited by the tax collector.
The concept of pre-placed buildings that can no more be built is a welcome variation from the standard scenarios.
You have enough time to get the economy up and running before the first enemies show up.
Caesar's demands are moderate, but you probably won't get by without gifts.
A tricky puzzle is to build enough houses for Patricians in this difficult terrain.
Overall, this scenario offers a lot to ponder for players who find the standard missions and housing blocks too boring :D |

Thank you for taking your time to compile a review. It is what keeps me engaged and motivated to make more and better scenarios as well as giving the map some highlight. |

It's a nice and varied map, not too difficult but challenging enough. Definitely worth playing. |

Made this map much harder for myself then needed to be, but it's completed. Was aiming to see how big a loop i can make in this map, wasn't worth it, took a while to make it stabilize. Probably had too much patrician also, was short on worker quite alot and was lazy to make another pleb loop. Nice map again marekvazny thanks |

Playability: 5
Very hard map until the very endgame, but totally possible to beat and enjoy.
Balance: 5
Nothing to complain about, the map is hand tailored close to perfection.
Creativity: 5
Changing the trade prices completely, together with all the other quirks on the map made it feel very original and creative.
Map Design: 5
Good design with many areas for future expansion, giving the player many choices when playing. The only ”downside” is that you basically always build on the lowest land level on the whole map, it would have been fun to have a few platoes to build on here and there. This minor point does not weigh nearlt enough to bring the overall design down to a 4 though.
Story/Instructions: 5
The extra challenge with the iron mines added an extra layer of difficulty to the map, and suited the narrative.
Additional Comments:
Very challenging but fair map. The military is something the player must keep in mind at all times, but the attacks are never too big so that they feel impossible to defeat. |

Salve Fairbuy,
thank you for the review of the map. I was impressed at the city so maybe consider uploading it here as well. :)

No problems so far. You need to be careful were you place your warfs at this tight river. That can be a little annoying. But I think I can remember that you already talked about this on stream.
Balance: 5
Very well balanced. Military on the easier side. I liked the idea to wait with additional iron production until you reach 5k pop. Until this point the trade is quite messy:)
Creativity: 5
Cool idea with the pre placed forums. You need to plan the loops carefully to make sure the tax man does his rounds. I already liked this idea on your map Ottawa.
Map Design: 5
A LOT of small rocks :D

Thanks for the review Matt, i'm glad you liked the map its my favorite one. I like the terrain constraints a lot.
Wharves - yeah we talked about it on stream if i was to revisit i would widen the river the water is very quirky, it can work but it can be annoying to figure out.
