The year is 118 BC and the senate has entrusted one of the most tedious provinces to be assigned to you. You will travel to Galia Transalpina, where your task will be to set up a large prosperous city, which will serve as a crossroads to reach the Roman province of Hispania. The site of the city is entirely covered in vast hills and valleys, so your biggest challange will be getting your people source of fresh water and food supplies. The ground here is also not favorable for extracting clay so getting large amounts of pottery could prove to be a challange. The natives in this province have a history of several uprisings and they are expected to still oppose our colonisation efforts. Main threat comes of course from Galia, where several chieftains along the border are already preparing for war. You shall however, have plenty of time to prepare your legions because there are many trading outposts in the mountains between Gaul, so you will have amble warnings as they are stormed in the event of an invasion. The senate has recently made sure, with new political reforms, that prices of food and several other commodities are comparable in the whole republic so expect trade margins to be poor. The people of Rome will demand that you send food and other necessities often, as the number of urban poor is increasing each passing year. Do not fail the republic and may Mars, patron of your city watch over you.
-INSTRUCTIONS-
- map is a save file intended to be played as such
- expect start to be slow going
-invasions and locals can get out of hand quickly, smart governor would invest in towers and use chokepoints.
-TRIVIA-
- try to limit initial spending as getting source of income can be hard at the beginning. Trade wheat to Rome, as its least expensive trade route and its price is modified from the beginning.
- aquaduct system and warehouse logistics are key here
- as usual several buildings and lucrativity amenities are disabled
Scenario Is Augustus and Julius compatible but not balanced specificaly with those in mind.
P.S. I'd be very interested in completed scenarios, which includes my previous maps. I read every comment and try to take into consideration all feedback.
If there is significant interest, i will update all my maps with MORTAL option.
-LOG-
05.08.2021 after some insight by Trolgu map has been roworked to allow plaza. Some minor changes include trade route prices, pottery value increased, military academy allowed.

Hi heyyjustchill.
You might want to try and download the file again. I tested downloading the file and it can be extracted with winzip and used as .sav file just fine. Please let me know.[Edited on 06/12/21 @ 01:37 AM]

Oh dear, no statues, no plazas and no oracles.
I have no idea how enough houses for Patricians can be built in this difficult terrain using Julius/C3. |

Hi Trolgu
Expert use of triumphal arches is a must here. Not sure if there are governor villas allowed or utilize large temples to buff des. If it proves too much there is of course the mortal version with plaza. Even though suggesting you play the pleb version is pure heresy. If it proves impossible i will add plaza. Hello Marek,
here is the answer to your question from "Cover of the Mountains":
I have built many cities without plazas, a few without statues, but none where both were missing.
Pre-placed statues limit the possibilities considerably, so I'll just wait until someone finishes this scenario, even if it's only at "very easy" level. |

Thank you for the advice Trolgu. I have amended the issue with enabling plaza and some other small changes. Sometimes my ideas get too silly i suppose. I hope the map still proves chalanging and fun and im of course looking forward for your completed city if you find the time and feel like playing it. |

Salve BigBear84,
unfortunately i don't have the old version anymore. With Augustus offering plethora of other desirability options the plaza ban is no issue in my opinion. It was meant to restrict Julius and vanilla players but that was ultimately too much. Perhaps you could ignore it being available and not use it if you still want to try. I'm looking forward for an summary if you manage to beat this scenario. |

Thanks ill give it a shot using only garden then, your right lararicon would make statue obsolete. really loving all the map you've made. All comes with unique challenges. The effort you put into making then really show. Thank you for that.
Only kinda started figuring out how to post completed scenario today, posted one of the completed one posted by ddr drake on someone' else behalf, not sure if it work but once ive got that figure out ill start posting completed cities regularly. |
