Seleucus certamen - MORTAL option added

Author File Description
File Details
Climate: Desert
Difficulty: Very Hard
Population goal: 10000
Culture goal: 0
Prosperity goal: 95
Peace goal: 85
Favor goal: 85
The year is 188 BC, and Rome has finally won a war against the Seleucid Empire. Your task will be, to set up a large prosperous city, in the newly acquired province of Asia minor. The enemies of Rome still seek to hinder her expansion, and locals which are mostly of Greek origin refuse to be integrated peacefully. You will need to set up military presence as soon as you are able to fend off frequent attacks and raids. Do not be afraid to bring on the might of modern roman army, and put any who oppose our grip on this provincie to the sword. You will also have the uneasy task of managing trade routes, since many trade hubs are already at capacity, it can prove difficult to find cities willing to buy our exports. Furthermore this province is offering little in a way of natural resources, so you will have to import most of raw materials. However do not assume that senate and people of Rome will not demand goods to be sent often, as you will be expected to provide much of what will be displayed as spoils of war, from conquest of this province on triumph in Rome. Thanks to the addition of Asia minor to Romes provinces, oil prices are expected to plummet as there are many cities that produce this good. Smart governor would avoid investing in such fickle sources of income early on. The locals have proven resistant in the past, so building few small shrines is only going to encourage further animosity. For this reason, you will need to build impressive temples to show them what Rome's culture represents. Do not fail the republic and remember your allegiances governor.

Added MORTAL version as an option
-EX is extreme version intended for best of players who want extreme chalange
-MORTAL unlocks plaza, more starting funds, lesser scale of events, lesser initial enemy numbers, longer time limit.

23.06.2021 - Added one more island near native trading hut, added some scattered rock, modified trade route opening costs, swapped vines for timber to be locally produced, map is .SAV file as of now and is intended to be played as such.

30.06.2021 added fishing lake in the south, added specs of fertile land around some rocky areas, some slight invasion and trade tweaks, moved around some natives near the coastal trading area.

amazingboi wow, this map is even in normal very difficult.
In my eyes, the earthquakes are catastrophic and game changing. The many local uprisings and to keep favor in Rome are the most tendious events to resist.
BigBear84 Decent map but didn't like how you filled the whole map with random invasion spawn point. Feel more like it was made hard just for hardness sake and nothing else so i have to regard it as off balance. Wasn't able to complete it cause peace couldn't reach the require amount in time. Overall the starting was quite hard but fair and doable, but few balance issues ruins this map for me overall.

otherwise everything else was doable, good job.

Salve BigBear84,
map was made as a challange for a streamer hence the difficulty. Most of my maps feature predictable invasion points so this was one where i wanted to go with different approach. I acknowledge that its not a map for everybody but it is definetly doable with enough effort. Thanks for the feedback and playing my map. PS: also the mortal option has increased time limit. You might want to try the Adriani Vallum map its basically opposite on invasion edge.

BigBear84 Thank you for replying. Ended up replaying the map, was still torturous but your right its doable. Hard to finish on first try but knowing where all the spawn points it is quite doable, saved constantly this time round, most of my peace drop was from building on native land. Great map, thank you for it, very challenging. Played your other augustus map and just finish that today. It was great to but now prefer sslsucus cause it forced me to replay the map to win. Great job.

Thank you immensely for the review. I'm glad to hear about your success. It would be great to see the city, as im always interested in details, like where did you built etc. You could maybe upload it to completed scenarios if you have a bit of time. My other maps are all Augustus compatible but not balanced with its features specifically in mind. Thanks again for taking the time to give me some feedback and you can also check out:
-Etruscis Bella
-In Tutelam Imperii
-Adriani Vallum
-Barnabas Tarsum
-Colonia Narbo Martius
-Nullum Tributum sine (only tax map with no invasions)
