While we are resting after so called Punic war, your duty is just in it´s beginning. The Roman senate is taking care of our newly acquired province: Sicily, with citizens pleased by rising wages that tribune thought we can afford, after we recieved first 30 talents of silver in war indemnity. Of course, this campaign needs to be steadily supplied with manpower and goods, which is complicated because of war casualties we suffered on our newly built fleet. This appears to be a big problem, as another oversea lands are just behind in the list of our priorities. With all those stubborn Carthaginians, Graeci and vicious mercenaries around, we cannot wait any longer to fortify our bridge to African shores.
You are to build a city of moderate size near Tarentum to manage this problem. The senate expect you to achieve ratings appropriate to your skill, and that requires perfect prosperity rating, even if your resources are rather poor. What your province offers is a little farmland, iron, and marble. Climate is suitable for olives and vines, but only wheat can be grown. Along with rich fishing waters, your only food source.
We have also observed a movement on the southeastern perimeter: it seems that local Etruscian rebels will try to reach sea by any means. It seems that they want to take advantage of the absence of our best legions. It´s crucial that you must stop them, even if our best military engineers and instructors are elsewhere. Local tribes are also better to be left alone. Some of them will eventually try to break through along with the Etruscians.
What complicates the matter a bit is that traders are willing to byu your goods only for half the usual price. Black market is flourishing in the chaos of recent war, and that is a big source of cheap goods. Of course, you shouldn´t buy anything from these smugglers! There´s always something going on in the empire... Oh, I would advise you to bribe the senate should it forget your exploits. They´re quite oblivious to mundane tasks, so this is the way it works, sometimes.
PS: try to investigate the strange geography of that island. It seems that these cracks were formed only recently.Sailors say that they rather use river canals instead of sea.
PS2: Barbarians will come to visit you from both sides of the river, but only between southern and eastern corners of the map. Other areas are 100% safe, apart from western natives, that cannot be pacified.

With prosperity requirement at 100 and housing capped at large villas only, it does affect the replay factor. Though you could go a few ways with your food resources, maximizing either fish or farming. I like the use of the earthquake to add a wrinkle to your city layout. And going without military academies was certainly a wake-up call. I didn't realize how weak your armies can be without training.
You normally don't see a 100 prosperity map with a military aspect to it but this one was handled well. No heavy invasions here but without academy training or towers, you have to build up your army faster than usual, which can delay your prosperity push.
The design is not as good as your PM Lindum, but I still give it high marks. I especially like the cove area for the fishing.
I appreciate the effort in creating a storyline for the mission. One item I found confusing though is the advise to use bribes. I thought maybe the favor requirement could not be reached by meeting the requests alone, but it turns out it does. I also found the instructions regarding invasions very helpful in placing my armies. [Edited on 04/07/12 @ 04:39 AM]
