I don't think a roll call is really necessary, but I thought I'd give you all an official welcome regardless.

And yes, I'd agree that putting up a forum like this is somewhat of a broad hint of things to come

Pre-release information, screenshots and an interview can be found here.

Hi Vaia! Wow lovely words, thank you so much. And thank you for the links.
EDIT: Lovely pix. Must post mine. I planned my elite city on top of the hill too with the rest in the valley below and mastabas in the entry way there. I forgot they made 3 small basalt statues before making the big one I needed for my Cult temple, doh!
Where can we post pix?

Sighs. Life is hard right now. My son now lives in San Diego with his Navy girlfriend, a lovely lass, and works as a Living Historian Pirate on a pirate ship there teaching history and showing kids how to climb rigging etc. This is good.

I'm still alone and still working in the plant shop office, trying to get accredited as a teacher here in Cal. Trying to make a wet piece of string constantly stretch to pay rent n bills tires me out completely. Getting a lot of air pressure changes causing migraines right now - Sunday, Monday, Wednesday 10 am and again at Midnight. I just recovered financially from the last lot of them cos I am on hourly rate, and not a good one. Stress caused high blood pressure too and I just can't relax enough with all that to write the novel.

I have written several short stories though - "Women of War" has "War Games" in it, "Fantasy Gone Wrong" has the MMORPG that got TOO real called "Is This Real Enough?", and "Cat Tails" has my Egyptian love story "Pharaoh's Cat" in it. All DAW books. Oh and waiting for one to come out about the topic "Where was the future we were promised?" Mine was a First Contact after Earth has colonized, through big business corporations, dozens of planets then suddenly comes up against aliens - called "Dark Wings".

Nice to see you all. Drop me a line sometime.

EDIT: Building Bubastis - and I built my OWN Cult temple to Bast! Doh! And no earlier saves to go back to.. sigh. Start again.
Did Nekhen in 19 years though.

Interesting.

I guess my life isn't as complex... I'm still in high school, mind you, so I've lately been doing what most of uss teenagers do... This, hangin around, kickin around, slumpin around, yeah yeah yeah.

Then of course there are those productive things, which frankly I really don't feel like going into.

In other news, I recently (4 months ago) made my A-Team in wrestling for Aberbeenshire...

I'd really appreciate it if you drop by every so often or something---gives me somebody else to talk too. I'm going to submit my scenario pretty soon, and I'm finishing up someone else's to review.

Do you have CotN anyway? And if you do, do you want to help me out designing and reviewing?
posted 08-07-07 17:39 ET (US)     60 / 71
haha I promised the people at the other forum that I would make a new map for them but I havem't got around to making it
What sort of work is needed for you Dean?
I stopped when I wanted to test out a simple script for my map and then it didn't work
posted 08-09-07 19:11 ET (US)     61 / 71
I'm just looking for works to review ;P

I'm working on my own map, it should be done pretty soon... I'm finishing up on adding my goals, and finishing up my millitary things.

I'll probably release it around the 17th/18th...

CotN scenarios are very hard to make

If you happen to finish one, please submit it so I can take a look at it!

I had no idea that it took that hard but I don't work on it very often but it takes me like a half hour to make a single location on the map and then 20-50 minutes to make a single script
and i plan on making it veyr script intensive, mostly just flavour text really though
I hope they like it though but it will come in a while, no release date becuase I don't work on it regularly

If you submit it I'll give it a lengthy review.

I have alot of world sites interconnected... It's nutty stuff, to say the least.

I have Children of the Nile, but i'm still busy with Pharaoh, LOL. Can anyone tell me, wich one is more fun to play?
posted 01-07-10 15:08 ET (US)     67 / 71
Hi motr90. Well it depends on how you feel.

When I play Pharaoh I have to focus on the treasury, meeting demands for Pharaoh, battling the predators and keeping the gods happy - all while trying to achieve the scenario rating targets. When it all works it is very rewarding.

When I play Children of the Nile I am more relaxed. Place the nobles, build farms & shops, educate priests & scribes, explore the world map. The pace is more relaxed, you don't have to worry about money, only bread. Bread is your currency.

Both games have lovely pyramids to build, but they do look better in CoTN because the game is newer and has better graphics.

So why not play both?

Hi NobleSeth, welcome.

I was playing COTN last year, but my computer had a few problems. I had to switch to a really old computer for 2 months, and that couldn't cope with COTN. So I switched to Zeus. I'll be back with Children of the Nile sooner or later.

Hello to all on this board im a newb player. Yes, I know the game is kinda old but hey, I missed it at the time.
So far, I think its an absolutely terrific game. What I like most is the balance between the really technical building (like SimCity) and the pacing of the game. Sometimes Im just looking at scenery and/or following my residents around.

Anyway, ive been messing around with the dat files and made a speed mod, it should be up for dl soon.

Cya'round all
