I show up in Corinth, lots of money in the Bank (stayed a while in Iolcus) and I start building a reasonable size colony. I don't give any fleece/oil, cause I figured I would probably want to leave the colony as quickly as possible.
I start producing lots (and I mean lots) of armor, to match requests and to reach the production goal. I easily achieve the 36 armor in a year (produced 45); so I moved on to the next goal and built 2 trireme wharves (sp?). One small problem...The stupid trireme builders won't do their thing! They just stand there, playing yoyo and splashing around in the water, obviously having a great time, while I'm starting to feel like hitting my head against every wall in the room

. The wharf is fully equiped (3 wood/3 armor and 100 employees), so I have no idea what's wrong. Has anybody had this problem yet? I'm going crazy...please help!

hmmm what do you want them to do

If it's build then they need a stady supply of materials

If it's attack they will only do that if the battlefield is reachable by sea

I am not sure how much wood is needed, but it does take quite a while for those durn fellas to start boat-building. It does sound like things ought to work. You might try looking at it with the problems overlay and see if that helps any.

I want them to build the ship. I have the 100 required employees and 3 wood/3 armor that they need to build the trireme, but they just won't start!

I had a fishery once that was placed and it built the boat and only after that it told me, that the location was not suitable for it - (apparently a small island was too close so the boat couldn't exit the bay) - just a thought.

The first thing I tried was destroying, rebuilding, un-crewing and re-crewing everything...that didn't do anything

. But I fixed it now

You need a palace to build triremes. It was explained in the manual, but I didn't look under "palace" at first

There has to be a steady supply of wood or they won't start building

The minimum is 3 wood and 3 armor but to build they need access to a steady supply

Just finished building 3 of them myself

Yes, but if you have everything (wood, armor, employment, acess...) and it still doesn't work, you need a palace.

Interesting... I've overlooked it in the manual, too - but I had palace in Thebes, so no problem. But thanks anyway, you saved me some problems in the future...

BTW, the palace does not need to be connected by road to trireme wharves for them to be built and manned - at least my palace was not connected to them and everything worked fine.
