hey I just visited gog.com and found they have a request games section. I searched and I found phaoroh, the other city builders are probably there as well. I though I'd share that, maybe it'd get enough votes to get rebooted. if the other city building games are on there (and this post doesn't break any rules) maybe post them here so we can all vote to get them reissued.

here's the link to phaoroh:

Hey Brugle and PCD, great to see you guys around here. How have you been?

After seeing so many of you guys endorse GOG, I bought all the games without hesitation. I won't have any time to play them, but I'm definitely downloading them for keeps, haha.

Well, I've just finished beta testing Expedition Conquistador a few weeks ago and right now I'm alpha testing Grim Dawn, both games I've found on Kickstarter.

Btw, I were one of the people beta-testing gog.com back when they started

Besides that I enjoy the sunny days we have started getting here in Denmark (high time IMO) and plays some Metro: Last Light (great game though a bit buggy, worse for some than others, luckily I'm one of the 'others').

I suppose you have finished your stint with the military long time ago. What are you up to now?

Oh wow, looks like we need to catch up a bit PCD. I was done with conscription and got out of army in late 2008, then I went to university. I just graduated, and as a matter of fact, I'm gonna be starting work tomorrow (Monday)!

I rarely drop by nowadays, and I definitely haven't been keeping up with all the new games.

I would like to add to the good things said about GOG. Not only do they have a lot of awesome old games, but it is all DRM free and their download client is optional... both things that can't be said for some other distribution platforms... Whenever I want to buy a game now, I always check first on GOG to see if they have it. And I can thank them for reintroducing me to Caesar III

GOG is having a big sale right now, with most of their games at least 50% off. This includes Children of the Nile and the other CB games.

GOG is doing the "Battle of the Games" right now.
http://www.gog.com/gamerumble

Registered users can vote for 2 sets of games each day. The set that wins gets a 75% discount the next day. The one that loses gets a 60% discount.

Caesar III, Pharaoh and Zeus are next. You can vote for another 14 hours and get each game with a huge discount afterwards.

I guess the discount will be valid for only 24 hours after this "battle" ends.

Someone on FB mentioned video games, so I thought, hey I used to play those things back in college!... then I remembered about this place so here I am!

Just found the games on gog.com before coming here. Looked at the screenshots. Was thrown back 10 years! Wow, I miss those games. All I'd need is time. Working a lot of hours leaves little time to play.

I actually still have the games, just haven't installed them on the Win 7 PC. Maybe I should.

GOG.com was what got me started on the CB games. I'm so glad I took a chance on them.

They don't have Emperor yet, nor any of the Anno games, but they do have a forum where members can vote up their most wished-for games. There's a thread specific to Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdoms here.

Found my Cleopatra Disc, but my Pharaoh Disc is AWOL; GOG.com it is for me. Do I have to patch the game and install the enhancement packs if I download from GOG.com, or is that part of the deal?

The game is already patched to 2.1, so you already have every fix available by default by getting the GOG.com version.

Gog is having a sale of Activision titles this weekend - 60% off! The prices I see on Gog are now in Aus dollars, so I'm not sure what others will pay.

Caesar III A$2.59
Pharaoh/Cleopatra A$4.29
Zeus/Poseidon A$4.29

Prices on old games at gog.com in US $ are usually 5.99 and 9.99 so for those paying in US$ it would be:

Caesar III ~US$2.39
Pharaoh/Cleopatra: ~US$3.99
Zeus/Poseidon: ~US$3.99

In Europe the prices are:

Caesar III €1.89 (58% off)
Pharaoh/Cleopatra: €3.09 (59% off)
Zeus/Poseidon: €3.09 (59% off)

I just noticed that Children of the Nile is 70% off for the next 11 hours. That is A$3.29. Good price!

The games are on sale again. Cleo is 50% off didn't check the others

The City Builder bundle is 75% off for the next 18 hours!

That's Caesar III, Pharaoh and Cleopatra, Zeus and Poseidon, and Children of the Nile all for $A8.26. Hard to believe that I paid about $70 for each of the boxed versions when they first came out.

Is children of the Nile good?
I never tried it before and never considered getting it in GOG.com as I thought it was no different to Pharaoh/Cleopatra.

Also, is Emperor: Rise of the middle kingdom out yet?
I've been searching this game for 4 years with no luck and last time I checked, it was still on the wishlist at GOG. I don't really trust Amazon or eBay sellers at all.

Heya Mazeppa,
Sadly, even to date Emperor is still missing from GOG. But according to the forums on the site, GOG has recently opened an office in L.A., reportedly just down the street from Activision, so ... well, fingers crossed.

I have had a few goes with Children of the Nile, and I liked it. I've read a fair few posts in various forums sneering at the game, and at Tilted Mill in general, but nothing that ever said why. The game seemed to make sense to me, and be enjoyable, but I haven't played it all the way through. It's on GOG as well, which makes it all pretty accessible.

Indeed, it's still missing. I've been regaining interest in city-building games once more. As a nostalgia, but also because I noticed how well done these games are.

I was about to buy again the games in GOG, when they were 10 Euros in total (except Emperor). But sadly it was a temporary price.

As for Children of the Nile, yes, it's very good. But now in retrospect, it has a couple of problems. In trying to up the realism, it increased the complications of it. Also, it reduced the player's ability to actually do something on it.

Call me old school, but the old games had a lot more of an original style to them than the later CoTN and Caesar IV. Which is why I'm able to play Emperor again without any reduced fun to it 12 years after the game got out.

Also, hi guys!

I want to add something: I WISH to see more games of this style in the future. SimCity is mindless crap (with all due respect), and I was never really a fan of the Anno series.

It's a shame that all Tilted Mill projects have come to an hiatus. I wish it wouldn't, and that one day we will see on Steam, and later on GoG, a City Building game based in Mesopotamia (my longtime dream).
