Topic Subject: Caesar 3 and Windows 10?
posted 05-04-17 06:44 ET (US)
Does anyone have any experience running Caesar 3 on a machine that uses Windows 10? I am facing the fact that I probably need a new laptop and probably can't get another one that runs Windows 7.
Thanks in advance,

I've just tested version of Caesar 3 on the first map on Win10 Pro 64-bit, ran without problems.

I run my CD copy of Caesar 3 on my Windows 10 laptop. It is stable, but you can't minimize without using ctrl alt delete. There is a glitch where voices and music endlessly loop, but there is a fix called Indirect Sound to correct it. Hearing the Legion order sound repeat endlessly gave me a headache...,7656,,20

If you don't have a CD drive, then you will be pleased to know that the Caesar 3 disc has no copy protection and Caesar 3 is not picky about what kind of drive the CD information is on. I copied it on to a flash drive and put it on my computer and mapped it as a network drive. You will have to change Caesar3.ini to change the drive it is looking at, but that is not complicated.

There is also a high resolution mod (1920x1080) from, which I find improves the experience.

To all who replied:
We tried the GOG version on a borrowed laptop with Windows 10 this weekend, and it seems to work fine. Thanks so much for pointing me in that direction.
