I was forced to make a new PC purchase and yes Vista is my destiny for now. I tried installing some of my older games and no real problems with Caesar3 and some other oldies, but Caesar2(dos) still eludes me and doesn't seem to be possible under this OS. Some usefull tips are welcome here, I don't want to bury my oldest friend yet.
But it ain't necessarily so.

Tried DosBox under XP and it wasn't satisfactory then, will it do better with Vista? Heck, guess I will have to try.
Still open to alternatives.
But it ain't necessarily so.

What about VirtualPC or similar programs? I'm not sure if it'll make older games play compatibly though.

Tried DosBox. Sofar I got some of the game working. No midi though. I know it won't affect gameplay much, but I will miss those familiar sounds. I will try editing the config file, maybe there is something in it that needs tweaking. Virtual Machines could be an option, thanks DX, I'll try that later.
But it ain't necessarily so.

Modest Hurray.
Fixed it. I must be loosing it, forgot to copy all the files from the cd to the gamefolder. DosBox doesn't read the cd, but only the content installed to the harddisk. Now the sound isn't exactly brilliant yet, but that was the case earlier with XP and in the end I managed to make it bearable so my hopes are up I'll find the right config again.
