Ozymanias Welcome to city building forum Sorry your having a problem with Zeus Your problem has several parts and don't know if I'de be considered a tech guru But here's a few suggestions turn off the 3d sound in Zeus it cause some problems with sound Update your sound card drivers to the lastest version if you haven't laready done that. In fact it would be a good idea to check Compaq's site for your make and model of computer and get all recommended updates for your system. The third part of the problem is that Zeus is very ram intensive much more so than the other city building games Hope this helps by the time you come back maybe this message will be moved Please lets us know if this helps

Have you gone to Start-->Settings-->Control Panel-->Multimedia and made sure that your sound card is selected as the preferred playback device?

Zeus has problems with some sound cards (it also helps if you have decent memeory, like 128 Meg or more).
Any kind of PCI sound card will be troublesome in Zeus - but you can get around it. In a game in progress, go into the Options menu and shut off the 3D Sounds... it should run quite a bit smoother after that, and you're not really losing much. Note that in the tech sheet that came with the game, it lists a "Soundblaster 126 PCI" as one of the problem cards - no such beast; this is a typo and should read "Soundblaster 16 PCI".
In any case, make sure you have the latest drivers for your sound card (and video, etc.) - hit the company web site to be sure.
