Caesar won't attack

jayhova Pleb	posted 11-01-17 12:24 ET (US) Having completed the peaceful series I am at Mediolanum where the requirements are 100/100/100/10,000. I am able to complete the scenario, but I wanted to take on Caesar, so I raised my salary and refused to ship anything. After a while (I was at 98 favor) I was able to goad Caesar into attacking. He then never attacked again no matter how low my favor. WTF?

Remove fortifications and perhaps demolish some military units. (shrug) If you want a more challenging game you need to edit the mechanics, if possible in C4.

lol, cute name, the Creator does have a sense of humor, but you might pay dearly in the 'end'.

Is this the normal way the game works? If I am too strong militarily, Caesar just won't attack? Is that what you are saying? I'm not sure if I understand.

Depends on the difficulty level you play at.
I assumed your maxed out difficult before getting to that city and wanting to cream Caesar over and over.

Why would a Caesar repeated attack you if you have already proven to be superior. Some define insanity as doing something over and over and expecting different result when the variables are not changing. Software doesn't have a mind only logical deductions the programmer accounts for.

Do you know if this is a bug, feature, are you guessing, is this documented? In the prior game, Ceasar would escalate his battles with you this time there is a message that Caesar will return but he doesn't.

In the decade between C3 and C4 the mechanics of the sierra games changed. When Tilted Mill was formed, Sierra managers and programmers just continued the progressive ideas. C3 never checked for a win/loss probability when Caesar invaded you. C4 does, along with troop loss recovery. Eventually, Caesar may invade you again but it will take some time and changing variables on your part.

That's the last bit of input from me as you obviously are looking for a research lapdog who has some claim to inside information. Schedule an interview with Keith if your that interested in authoritive answers.

Maybe someone more respectable, in your eyes, can help you.

At what difficulty are you playing Caesar IV? In the easy mode Caesar is more forgiving.

According to my version of the game, Mediolanum is the first military map after the 5 tutorials. The final, 14th peace map, 'Nicomedia' has the ratings mentioned. 100 x 4 and 10,000

This being the final peace map, the victory video will give you some indication as to why Caesar doesn't attack.

You depose him and his legions side with you.
