I was wondering if there was any plans for a sequel? I think this version is really good, but it could be improved, and I know it's been a couple of years since it's release.

Any mutterings?

Hi Nick, welcome to the forums.

A sequel is very unlikely. Tilted Mill developed Caesar IV, but as far as I know, the Caesar copyright was held by Sierra/Vivendi and they are now part of Activision.

Why do you say unlikely?

The company that developed C-IV does not own the rights to make C-V and the one that does hasn't shown any interest in these games. Any of that may change of course.

Seems ridiculous that. All about politics and not about the games.

The city building engine has made some improvements over the years, from the first two Caesars, to III, which I played a lot.

I never got into Zeus or Poseidon much but once Pharo and Cleopatra came to be it was a bit better - E:RotMK was one of my most favorable, mostly because I'm partial to a far eastern theme.

Now with IV, it seems things are about as good as they can get but after all is said and done, it really is "more of the same".

The series I was hoping would stay alive with the Online, but that server died (I was moving on nicely up the ranks in it too with my empire) but I don't feel I will need to buy any more city building sims unless the system is change or overworked..

has anyone every tried the game "CivCity"? yes civ with city, not a typo.

I was curious to try it....

Whilst considering whether or not to buy C4, I came across a lot of other Roman city builders. However, all the reviews I saw pointed to C4 being by far the superior.

Unfortuntaley, I cannot recall whether or not CivCity was amongst them...

I've tried CivCity Rome. I didn't really get into it. I much prefer Caesar IV.

And when you have finished the Caesar IV campaigns, why not try some of the custom scenarios.

Glory of the Roman Empire was not that bad, bit simple. There seems to be a successor to that. CivCity Rome was less interesting, but if you can get it cheap it's fun to try. Neither of the two compares to C-IV, and I still prefer C-III, but that is entirely personal.

For what it's worth, I've played both CivCity Rome and Glory of the Roman Empire, and neither was sufficiently involving to make me play through to the end. In CivCity, the Civ element didn't give me the feeling of being so vital eg there was never a time that I was anxiously trying to achieve a certain research point in order to make some significant in-game progress.

On the other hand, Caesar IV has made me a total addict, as Caesar III and Pharaoh did. I haven't finished C4 yet, am currently playing Hippo Regius, but I can't imagine not going on to the end - in fact I'm dismayed by the fact that I'm almost finished the Republic even though I've been playing both scenarios at every stage ...

Why is it that the good games die? The Caesar series, the Dungeon Keeper series ...

I think it's a little premature to say the Caesar series has died - didn't C4 come out in 2006 (only 2-3 years ago)? This is nowehere near the wait between C3 and C4, so perhaps if you give it a little more time...
