I'm playing Cathago. I have city walls but I haven't if you see what I mean. There must be a break somewhere but I have examined every inch and can't find the darned thing.
Is there an easy way to find it?

Many thanks Kach. Happy to say I have found it - a guard couldn't get round a corner.

Also you're probably aware but just for completion:
Walls only have to go around your housing. As long as they are surrounded on all sides (two or three sides if water surrounds one or two other)then this is all that suffices.
On a note about water though:
If you have a river running two sides of your city (say bottom and left) and you just wall from say the bottom right up to the top left, this -will- do, as long as you have no other buildings on the other side of the water.
If you do, either ensure your housing is fully surrounded ( on all sides), or that any structure on the other side of the river is also surrounded similarly with walls (at least up to the water like your main city-side). This will satisfy the Equites and Patricians for need of walls.
I had this issue in Gual (can't remember the actual city name), where you have a river on the bottom and right sides. I had a wall on the other two sides, but had lumber mines on the far side of the river. Equites weren't evolving... so I thought, well why not? I put three walls around the lumber mines (fourth wall was the river) and suddenly all the housing was "evolving". ^_^

There's also one more thing to add here. If your river has a central island bordering the edge of the map (essentially making the river 'two' rivers, you need a wall on the far side of the island next to the edge of the map other wise nothing will evolve (if you're going for a map-sized wall instead of just walls around your housing.
I had this issue in Colonia Agrippina in "Caesar IV Online".
I had walls all the way around except for a bridge connecting the bottom half to the central island, and the central island to the main upper half of the map. I placed a lower wall first around the bridge entrance on the south part - nothing. I then placed a wall surrounding the entire lower part of the map (while keeping the second wall around the bridge mouth) - nothing. I had to put a wall on the right side of the island (due to the boarder being "off the map" which was essentially "allowing potential hostiles to walk into the city".
Once done, the city started evolving again... I really only had to add the wall to the island and around the bridge mouth but I didn't know at the time yet I had over 25K so price wasn't an issue.
