If I place sheep, trees or vines on two meadows (or opposite sides of a meadow) some Sheperds and growers start travelling the maximum distance to get to their produce. They walk right pass perfectly good sheep, trees and vines while their counter part does the same in the other direction.
Apart from having only one feeding or growing area, can I stop them from walking to the other side of the map.

In what order did you build the Grower's lodges and Dairies in comparison to the two fields?

You can't stop them from wandering all over the map to tend sheep/goat/vines etc. I think it was so that the tender/shepherd goes to the sheep/vine that needs the most tending.
The only solution I know is, as you said, to restrict sheep/orchards to one meadow.
