Hi everyone,

I just wondered if anyone ever found a way to hack this game so that you could delete the "max 4 sanctuaries" rule or something usefull like that.

Sorry, I don't think anyone has been able to get around the limit on the number of sanctuaries. Personally, I find 4 to be plenty, in fact I usually build as few as possible to win the adventure. But I know many people want to build the most magnificent city they can.

I guess I am among those, then. Cause mostly my cities are capable of surviving without the gods (once in a decade they wake up and do something without being asked). But I wanted to go for a real temple city

Or something very organised at least. Huge housing bloks on the left, temples in the middle (with nice boulevards) and heavy industry on the right)

If I change some numbers in the txt files will this influence the game? Or are the files just for players to get info?

Cause I noticed that for example popularity drops with 7 if tax is outrageous at olympian level. You could gain a lot of money if you changed that -7 into a +10 The more tax you ask the more they love it

Yes, it will influence the game (free buildings anyone?). It's even possible to change the look of the sanctuaries completely by editing their text files. However, it's recommended that you make a backup of the files first, in case you want to change back to the defaults

Anyone ever started a thread where some cool tricks were gathered?

When you talk about changing the sanctuaries, do you mean just the small statues on the sides? Or can the big carved ones be changed too?

For example: copying the whole data of the hephastus sanctuary and pasting it over the zeus sanctuary, then change the carved Hephastus statue into the Zeus one. Should give a much smaller (and cheaper and faster to construct) sanctuary to Zeus, no?

As far as I know, the entire design of the sanctuary can be changed. So yes, you should be able to make the Zeus sanctuary a clone of the Haeph. one and therfore easier to build.

Well, that went very easy. Simple ctrl A, ctrl C and ctrl V and the temple appearance changes.
But I'd like to keep the large Zeus statue. Can't find which line it is.
I also added the grapevines of Dionysus and olives of Athena.
So in fact I only need to know three things:
How can I change the big statue?
How can I add Artemis' and Ares' troops?
How can I add the appearance of a monster pet?

I'd love to have all the monsters on my side thanks to Zeus' Stronghold

Hey everybody! There's a really cool sound file in the Zeus game. It can be found in this map:

Master of Olympus - Zeus\Audio\Music\Ekplixi.mp3

If you take a look at the file of Hephaestus' sanctuary, you'll see that "STATUE_OF_HEPHAESTUSS" (Heph. statue facing south) is defined as '95', and "STATUE_OF_ZEUSS" (Zeus statue facing south) is defined as '63'. Now search for the number 95, you can find it on line 214:
{1, 8, 95, 1,},

Replace the 95 on that line with 63 and you should get a Zeus statue instead of Hephaestus.

I've had a quick look at those model files, but it seems like that are just the things you can't change. I think troops & monsters are hardcoded in the game and not loaded from the model files.

One word of warning: if you load any saved game which has sanctuaries in it which were built with the original model files, this might cause graphical problems, game instability and/or crashes.

Hmmm, you might be right on the monsters and soldiers. Either they are hard-coded, or they are very well hidden. I've been checking on the other files as well. I changed a -7 in a +7 and now all my citizens just love to pay outrageous taxes My popularity immediately rises to excellent.

I haven't touched monster behaviour cause it only shows some odd numbers and the word NEVER. No explication, has anyone got an idea what changing these numbers might do?

In the building file there are three free places for sanctuaries (12 gods sanctuaries' codes, followed by sanctuary 13, 14 and 15) I wonder wether it was simply something the develloper's used for beta-testing the game or whether we could fill those places up with something usefull... I'd love to have my own temple Then I'd be even stronger than Zeus and I'd have all the benefits.

Talking about benefits: the meadow of Demeter, the soldier bonus of Athena, ... are these things similar to the monsters and soldiers? Can't find them in the code.

Changing the large statue works (he faces the wrong direction but that can easily be solved). There are however some other things I want to say. I used the complete code of the Artemis temple, added the copper and silver ore, grapes and olives that come with the other temples.
Mints, that weren't available at first appeared in the menu after building this new Zeus temple. The silver-ore bearing rocks however didn't appear. The other bonusses didn't change anything (no new buildings, no grapes, olives or coper around the temple). And the amazon warriors that come with the Artemis' temple never showed up. I got an oracle however, and it was really Zeus that patrolled my city.
So I guess that the soldiers and monsters are hard-coded, I guess that a temple can only provide one benefit (grapes, olives, silver or copper). Since silver was written first this one got placed (I guess, but since there's no place around the corners they didn't appear and the minters couldn't find them)

@Pecunia: how did you build the tools you posted under misc?

I'm trying to get back into modifying the files (new temples, new features, ...)

Do you know of a way to decompile the hex code?

All I found so far on this forum is that editing position E5F97 ups the temple build limit per map from 4 to 6

Cheat engine seems to be you better option. There is a table on the internet that allows remove max limit or sanctuaries. But it works on ram and not in game files, so you need have it active when you do
