I'm on the mission where I have to build up Athens. I managed to get Jason in my city and he killed the dragon, then Sparta attacked me at the same time my olive oil supply was destroyed by the dragon... things were going so well too.

Sparta came in and started killing all of my people. Jason was finally able to kill them (after most of my army was destroyed) and I won the war, but now I have about 100 people in my city, and I am in debt about 2500 drachmas. The problem is that I don't have enough people in my city to attract more people to come. Almost every house has the plague, fountains and granaries are collapsing, there are no workers to accept trades... Before I restart the adventure, I wanted to see if anyone had any tips... before the invasion, I had over 6000 people in my city, now it is about 100.

Ow!!! Have you tried asking any of your neighbors for financial assistance? It sounds like you're quite a ways into this if you have 6,000 people--which adventure are you on?

The first thing I would do is go to the labor screen and bump up the priority on health care. Getting rid of the plague should help with people coming back in, although it will take a very long time to get your population built back up.

Last night two housing blocks lost their olive oil and I think it took almost two years to get my population back to normal--what a headache that was!

Things are a little better now but a bunch of other cities are angry or hostile with me. I'm manually setting priorities and changing them every month. First I did health and safety, which got rid of the plague and stopped my buildings from collapsing. I have a population of about 500 people now but nobody has any supplies... man this is so frustrating. I only have 4 allies/vassals and they are bitter because I milked em last year... I think Athens is going to crumble with the next invasion

It's probably a little late, but what I found helped the most in this one was to overproduce cheese. As soon as you can, send everyone a small gift of cheese each year, except those that sell it. It will really help with your relations with them, especially Knossos.

I took out Sparta the first thing in this episode, since they seemed to be trouble makers. They were docile (and fat) from all that cheese!

Building a sanctuary to Apollo as soon as possible is also a great idea. He'll immediately pop up and destroy any monsters in the city, whereas heroes have to walk to them, giving the monsters all sorts of time to cause mischief. That dang dragon destroyed a storehouse full of armor before Jason showed up.

My last bit of advice would be not to advance all your housing too fast in this adventure. Until the last one, you really don't have reliable supplies of fleece and oil to maintain all your worker's housing at the highest levels.
