Sandbox is for practice and for trying out ideas. Try one of the adventures. Much more fun!

As far as I can tell, the sandbox mode is completely idyllic in every way---there's easy money to be had, lots of resources, etc. They're similar to the sample Construction Kit cities that came with C3. If you want more structure, I do strongly recommend the adventures.

Howdy and Welcome!

I have a rather large city i've built in the sandbox (trying out housing blocks, distribution, etc.) After the first 20 years or so there are only a few recurring events (mostly requests easily dispatched by that point) but the world status doesn't change.

Echos on the advice you go ahead and start some of the adventures. They are relatively simple (with some interesting problems at times). You can even play at any difficulty setting (Olympian is Very Hard, Titan is Hard, Hero is Normal, etc.) and just have fun with it.
