Hi there, I'm a software engineer and I've been in love with the Master of Olympus - Zeus games for two decades now.
I have two questions for you:
First: What do you think of a remake of Zeus playable in the browser without installation?
Second: Do you know of free assets that would fit this game? I can't use the original ones.

I have been trying for years to find out about this. The only answer that I was able to find is that all the designers are scattered all over, many are retired and that no one wants city building games. But that is not true. On Ios and android there are sooooo many shitty shitty exploitative money grabbing city building inspired games. And then on the console there are so many very very bad city building games (cities skyline, Tropico) it’s like they learned nothing from what impressions did. So arrogant and so badly done. And people play those games. They have no way of controlling their economy, they have so many things that are worse than in Caesar 2 for pity’s sake! And yet people play those terrible terrible games. Tilted Mill is dead it seems. When did hinterlands come out? Not sure, butnit seems dead too!
I think there would be a demand for it if some studio took eveything that was done from Caesar 3, to Emperor to Children of the Nile, with the technology that we have now, a zeus+posseidon remake could be amazing. Everything about walkers, and zones, and made it like Children of the Nile, but with today’s technology, can you imagine? (personally I would love to play it on the console xbox or playstation)
I remember when Caesar 4 (5?) came out, I had a good computer!but it was wonky and buggy, today it would not be. at all.
I also wish for a zeus remake. Maybe if you are a software engineer and know designers, you could start a kickstarter?

While web browser seems amusing, I still feel that a proper remaster is a good idea overall. This game was a star among them as it included the gods directly, and it had a HUUGE potential for a multiplayer. Just see how Emperor is still super fun to play with friends, especially in this times! I can only see this game reboot as a successful remaster.
Let's imagine that we decided to revive this game. If we have the ultimate iron will to go for it, we need a very potential art team (just a bunch of people is not a good idea imo), a good coding team that can deal with the source code to fix bugs and add specialties, a good marketing team (for the hype and general declaration of the progress), and at last, a good publishing company that can handle our work (good reputation is necessary, as people would see only the publisher). While working on it, we might want to find a consistent fanbase department on any social media sites (for communication and feedbacks) as well as try to advertise the game and find more and more supporters (might be tricky, but as Antoine said above there might be a demand for this game, both in terms of gameplay and for the nostalgia).
Or, we can go with the browser idea, but as the game is not that small, I doubt it could go well, but if it does, it would be a nice project. We still lack the legal terms to do so, as we need to make it open-source in order to proceed. A new game with similar gameplay can work perfectly, but also at the same time, we might have to pay for the constant domain preservation, which might make this game more like modern mobile P2W game, which would not benefit our cause really well.
So, I still think that a remaster reboot is the optimal for the future of this game.
Well, if you guys want to...
