Yet another new Cherub!!
Posted on March 31st, 1999 by Angel Reckless Rodent
Following the appointment of Cherub Abelius last week, we at C3H got the appointment bug and decided to go on the lookout for another Cherub to help us out. Also, following the sad departure of Angel Stef a couple of weeks back, we decided that we should really see to the techy side of the site. And so, will everyone please welcome Cherub Et Flavius to Caesar III Heaven! He’s been active in our forums helping people out with their technical difficulties, and that is the reason we have decided to make him part of the C3H Dream Team (one for Angel Alexander I there, if he’s reading this;)). So, if you’ve got a technical problem running the game, then let Cherub EF know;).
EF, you’ll be on the navbar list on the left as soon as I get an email address from you;)
That concludes the current round of appointments – we’re not on the lookout for anyone at the moment, so please don’t flood my inbox with applications. We’ll appoint any future Cherubs and Angels from the forums:).
Caesar III Heaven wins an award!
Posted on March 30th, 1999 by Angel Reckless Rodent
Yes, folks, it’s true! Caesar III Heaven has won its first award thanks to the cool guys at GoneGold. You’ll now see this sexy little pic on the left hand side, just down below the navbar. On behalf of all the team here at C3H, let me say that we’re over the moon to receive this award, and hope that it may allow us to provide our visitors with an even better service than before. If you’ve just got here from GoneGold, then take some time to have a look around. Check out the download section, with the biggest selection of saved games and scenarios on the Internet, updated regularly by Angels Monty’s Monkey and Draco. Also, follow the navbar link on the left to our forums, and let us know how we could improve the service we provide:).
For now, goodbye and happy surfing!
Last .mp3 file from Impressions
Posted on March 29th, 1999 by Angel Reckless Rodent
Well, all good things must come to an end, and such is the case here. Over the last several weeks, Impressions have been releasing the music which can be found in C3 as .mp3 files on their website. Last week they released the last one of these files, a little ditty entitled simply “Hail”. Get it from their download section.
How do you get to this site? My statistics suggest that most of you have bookmarked it and access it that way. However, there’s another way to do it. Why not use our HGS Gateway as an…erm…gateway to Caesar III Heaven? It’s the place to go to find all the latest news from all the HGS family of sites (we are more than merely C3H and Pharaoh Heaven, you know). Check it out here.
The Monkey Strikes Again!
Posted on March 20th/21st, 1999 by Angel Reckless Rodent
Here’s something I meant to say yesterday but forgot (looks sheepish). Angel Monty’s Monkey has uploaded a review or two for you to check out…seems like a long dead Roman Senator has come back to review them. Wierd, eh? You’ll see what I mean in the downloads section.
Good luck to Angel Draco as he heads off to Washington, DC to take part in the Moot Court Competition. I’m not sure what it’s all about, but I’m sure he’ll tell us all about it when he gets back;).
This might or might not be the only news update this weekend – if something really stunning happens, then I’ll tell y’all about it tomorrow, so check back to see if anything’s happened!
See you in the forums!
Loads of new stuff on the news page!
Posted on March 19th, 1999 by Angel Reckless Rodent
Well, there are 1 or 2 changes on the C3H news page today. As you will have already seen, there is a new feature on the top -the “Building a Roman City feature”. There, you’ll find loads of great stuff about how the Romans built their cities. Who knows, you might even learn something you can use to improve your cities in Caesar III!
Also, if you scroll down to the bottom of the page, then you’ll see that a new banner has suddenly appeared! Have a look down there for some of the lowest prices on the Net…and, you’ll be helping C3H at the same time! Cool, eh?

C3 Olympics update
Posted on March 18th, 1999 by Angel Reckless Rodent
After a long discussion amongst the members of the C3 Oympics Committee, it has been decided that the start date has been put back to April 30th. So, that gives y’all more time to sign up and get the training in ready for the events. Get the full story here.
Also on the Olympic front, Cherub Dragon2 has got some events ready for testing. So, if you want to be ahead of the game and get some training in at the same time, head over here to find out the details.
The teams are building up nicely but we nevertheless need more people to join in with the Olympic spirit! So, don’t delay, sigh up today! You can do that here.
Just to clarify what I wrote in the forum about not being here for the next month or so. In fact, I will still be around, updating the news here, at Pharaoh Heaven, and at HGS Main, but I won’t be around in the forums as much as I have been recently. However, once phone calls are no longer an issue, I shall be back to normal (April 22nd).
See you in the forums! [not as much as usual;)]
More quakey stuff
Posted on March 17th, 1999 by Angel Reckless Rodent
Jack Noir’s been busy on your behalf again. This time, in his ever-deepening quest into what makes earthquakes tick in C3, he’s made the discovery that natural barriers can be put up to limit the extent of the quake damage. So, is anyone out there gonna do a scenario with all the farmland enclosed by some rocks and have an earthquake tear through it?
Speaking of scenarios, Angel Monty’s Monkey has uploaded 2 scenario reviews to the site. They’re done by a mysterious Roman Senator who seems have come back from the dead. Wierd, eh? Check out what I mean in the download section!

European Patch out!
Posted on March 16th, 1999 by Angel Reckless Rodent
There’s dancing in the streets all over the world today, as Impressions and Sierra finally make a patch available for non-US versions of the game! There are several different versions – see and grab them here.
Now that you’ve all got your patched versions of the game, then I’m sure that you’ll want to be taking part in either the Caesar III World Cup or the Caesar III Olympics (or both:)). Well, there’s good news for all of you today – the Caesar 3 World Cup has gone online as of this morning, and there is a forum for you to sign up for the C3 Olympics in the forum section (surprise surprise;)). Neat, eh?
See you in the forums!
Let’s all play Quake!
Posted on March 15th, 1999 by Angel Reckless Rodent
No, it’s not the shoot-em-up version of Quake, but some pics of some quakes. These were sent in by forumer Jack Noir and just show how devastating a quake (even a small one) can be. Check them out here!
Been to the forums recently? If so, then you’ll already know about our latest forum arrival – the Reviewers’ Corner. It’s the place to let all the other gamers know what you thought of a scenario that you’ve played. Worth a look, no?
Meanwhile, I’ve added last week’s news to the C3H News Archives, so don’t leave them there gathering dust – head over there and get all nostalgic as you check out news from the past. It’s a good place to check out if you’re new around here:).
New cities:)
Posted on March 14th, 1999 by Angel Reckless Rodent
It’s like a chariot race over here at C3H at the moment! In the blue chariot we can see Angel Draco…Angel Monty’s Monkey in the red one. They’re charging round the virtual track seeing who can do the most updates of the download section. Well, Angel Draco’s just slipped into the lead at the moment, as he’s updated the cities section with 3 new ones, including the Zoo scenario promised by Bob the Lethargic in the forum a little while back. Should be well worth a look, don’t you think? Come on MM, you can’t let Draco get too far ahead, can you?;) Just 1 word of warning…don’t delete the hippodrome when they’re going round the track, or they’ll get lost and run all over C3H…
Meanwhile, there’s more great stuff for the musically-minded. Impressions have released the latest .mp3 file from the game. This time, it’s another stirring ditty entitled “Overture”. Get it from their download section.
C3 Footy!
Posted on March 13th, 1999 by Angel Reckless Rodent
If you’re feeling particularly competitive and have already entered for the Caesar III Olympics, why not also have a go at the C3 World Cup? Unlike the Olympics, it’s being run on a league and group system (like the real-life world cup). Get the full story and sign up for it here.
For those of you who want to find out more about the Roman Empire, live in the US and have cable, then there are some programs on tomorrow that will be of interest. The Learning Channel is doing a mammoth run of its Rome: Power and Glory series after 12pm EST tomorrow, running for about 6 or 7 hours. Learn more about it here. If you do watch it, then let us all know what it was like!
A Sad Day in Heaven
Posted on March 12th, 1999 by Angel Reckless Rodent
It’s a sad day indeed in Caesar III Heaven today. Why? Because the angelic being otherwise known as the Techanator, Angel Stef, has succumbed to the lures of real life and left the staff. *sniff* We’re all real sorry to see you go, Stef. Good luck with your studies and everything – I’m sure they’ll all go really well:). Don’t forget to drop back from time to time, and also pop round to Pharaoh Heaven if you’ve got some spare moments.
On a much happier note, have you taken part in the Gamestats survey? If so, then your answers have been noted and read by the staff at GS, and are being put to use to improve the service that we all provide. If you haven’t yet participated, then what are you waiting for? Get over there and have your say! All forms are read by the GS staff, and will make a real difference!
Happy Scenario Day!
Posted on March 11th, 1999 by Angel Reckless Rodent
It’s all about scenarios in C3H’s news today. First, spurred on by Angel Draco’s burst of activity yesterday (which he’s still recovering from;)), our latest angelic creation, Angel Monty’s Monkey, has added 6 more scenarios to the download section. There are a couple from scenmeister Gordon Farrell too – they’re always worth a look, as they force you to play a different sort of game than that to which you have become accustomed in the careers. Remember, we’re always on the lookout for new submissions – if you’ve got a city that you’re particularly proud of, then send it to Draco. If you’re more into designing scenarios, then they can be sent to Monty. Anything else to Draco please:). Come on guys, let’s keep these two on their feet!
Keeping on the theme of scenarios and map design, if you’re just starting out and want to get to grips with the basics of creating a good scenario, check out Cherub Dragon2’s Tips for Scenario Designers in the Map Design forum. They’re pretty informative, and will almost certainly point you in the right direction.
C3H goes warp speed!
Posted on March 10th, 1999 by Angel Reckless Rodent
Great news for you all today – Gamestats has had a new pipe installed! No, that doesn’t mean that we are now sitting in front of the fire in our rocking chairs with a rug over our legs, smoking a pipe and remembering the good old days. Instead, it means that all GS-hosted sites will load wayyyy quicker than they did before. Since C3H is a GS affiliate, then you’ll notice a difference here too:).
More cool news today from the Windy City – Angel Draco has been a busy bunny burning the midnight oil to get some more stuff into the downloads section. He’s added another 9 cities, taking the total to over 100. Well, I guess that just confirms that Caesar III Heaven is the largest C3 fan site on the Net!
The new look forums are here!
Posted on March 9th, 1999 by Angel Reckless Rodent
Angel Mack has been really busy over the past couple of days getting the Caesar III Heaven forums upgraded to the new format. For those of you who have already been, the changes are pretty clear. However, 1 important thing to mention is that, due to the fact that the threads are not all shown on one page, there is no longer the 30 post limit to each thread:).
In these lovely new forums, Cherub Dragon2 has been busy sorting out competitions. He’s come up with the idea of a Caesar III Olympics! Cool, eh? Click here to find out more!
More News from GS!
Posted on March 8th, 1999 by Angel Reckless Rodent
Are you a bit of a warlord? Fancy placing yourself in command of the might of the Russian military during WWII? Then GS has got the contest for you this week! Click on the pic to the right of this and you’ll get the chance to win one of seven copies of Close Combat III: The Russian Front. Sounds a bit cool, eh?
Also today, head over to Pharaoh Heaven to find out how to learn a bit more about ancient Egypt. However, before you go, take a look at the forum and check out some of the great posts over there. A hot topic over there today is how to satisfy your citizens. Check out that thread here.
Music and Maps!
Posted on March 6th/7th, 1999 by Angel Reckless Rodent
Those cool guys over at Impressions have brought out yet another .mp3 file for your listening pleasure. This week’s is called “Dirt Roads”, and sounds pretty cool:). Head over to their site to check it out!
Loads of other stuff to relate to you today – the first is the happy news that Angel Monty’s Monkey has added some scenarios to our downloads section! Nice one MM! Also on the topic of scenario building, there’s a great thread in the Map Editor forum dealing with just that topic. It’s well worth checking out if you’re interested in the finer points of map design, since there are some great tips there. Click here to get there:).
Here’s one for our UK visitors. If you subscribe to PC Format at the moment, then you can get a free copy of C3! Worth a look if you’re thinking of getting the game and regularly read that excellent publication;).
GS wants to know all about you!
Posted on March 5th, 1999 by Angel Reckless Rodent
Our fantastic hosts, Gamestats, are interested in learning more about the people who regularly visit either them or their affiliates. To this end, they have set up a special survey for their great visitors to fill out. And, there’s the chance of winning a prize in their weekly draw! Interested? Of course you are! Get over there and fill out the questionnaire!
Moving back to C3H, the latest topic of interest in the forum is the number of posts made by our regulars. Head over there and check it out, and let me know (by posting in that thread) if I’ve missed anyone out;).
Let’s go all historical…
Posted on March 4th, 1999 by Angel Reckless Rodent
Since it’s a pretty quiet day in the Roman Empire today, I thought that I might have a rummage around the Archives section and see what I could come up with. Well, I found (apart from a few cobwebs and quite a few dust bunnies) the first ever news item, posted on 12th October last year by Angel Alexander I. Here’s a little excerpt:
Welcome to Caesar 3 Heaven! The site that keeps you updated on all the latest news being generated about this amazing game. This site is still under massive construction as we try to play through this challenging game ourselves, so please bear with us.
We do have a couple of areas open for business, however. If you haven’t tried out Caesar 3 yet and are wondering why we are doing a Heaven site for it, first, read the great preview in our Strategy section, and then head over to our Download area. Download the fab demo and see for yourself how much fun it is to rule an ancient Roman city.
If you want to check out the rest of that news story, and other stuff from that particular week, then you can get it here. By the way, let me know if you prefer the font bold or not – any other feedback is also most welcome:)
A Big Shakeup in the Downloads Section
Posted on March 3rd, 1999 by Angel Reckless Rodent
Today sees the commencement of a new era in the Caesar III Heaven downloads section. Angel Spineman has departed in order to concentrate on other HGS sites. Thanks for all your help over the past 5 months, Spiney, and good luck with Majesty Heaven and all the other HGS sites you are involved with!
So, who is replacing him? I hear you cry. Well, the onerous task of updating the downloads section has been split up. From now on, please send all cities and misc stuff to Angel Draco. If you have a scenario to submit, please send it to Angel Monty’s Monkey. Finally, if you have a review, then please send it in to Angel Stef.
Yes, we do indeed have a new Angel. Everyone please welcome the promotion of Cherub Monty’s Monkey to Angelic status! Congratulations, Monty, and welcome to the upper reaches of Heaven! He’s started work straight away, and has updated the downloads section with an extra scenario. Watch this space for more to follow;)!
By the way, if you are surfing the Net and find anything that is Caesar III related, then please send it to me so that I can mention it in the news. Full credit will, of course, be given:).
Goings-on in the Forum
Posted on March 2nd, 1999 by Angel Reckless Rodent
Great stuff in the forum today! Get over there and have a look at the best thread I’ve read in a long time – will the market lady be condemned? Or will a darker conspiracy engulf the whole city?
Also, seems like there have been some phantom wine casks spied in Lutetia…Head over there to get the full story!
When you’ve checked them out, head over to our sister site Age of Empires Heaven for news of a rather cool-sounding television programme that might well be of interest to you out there;).
Any more questions to Darrin?
Posted on March 1st, 1999 by Angel Reckless Rodent
Our interview with the art director of C3 and Pharaoh, Darrin Horbal, will probably take place some time this week. So, if you’ve got any more questions for him, then now is the time to ask! Head over to the forum and submit your questions directly to Draco.
Also, are you really annoyed at those darn market ladies who refuse to collect food from the nearest granary, and head off to check out the javelin throwers whilst their own neighbourhood is devolving due to a lack of food? Well, here’s your chance for some revenge! Get into the General Forum and put your case in The Roman Empire v. The market lady. I’ll look forward to the judgement;).
