Good evening censor Appius, please excuse the late hour and the intrusion, but I'm a simple scribe with important information for you. I've arrived directly from the Senate to pass you a message. The Senate has decided on building a road from Roma to Capua - a massive project, and they've chosen you to realize it. Briefing you was delegated to me, but I do my job well and with pride.

You already know how we disgracefully settled with the Samnites and ended the last war. It was because of the marshes north-westwards of Capua. The Republic now needs a safe road, so goods and soldiers can travel fast. Tarrentum is not going trade with you, because of these damn barbarians blocking the roads, but the sea is safe. Because of this only trade by water is possible, but Siracusae would gladly buy our oil and other crafted goods. As you know we are allied with Capua, but their governor is unable to grow the town and help with the road construction. Here you come in play.

You are to establish a medium sized city, providing your workers with everything they need. Even only plebs and free citizens can live in your city, you're expected to achieve high prosperity and educated population. Since a lot of engineers and architects would be needed for the road to become reality. I've also been instructed to reiterate that the Samnites won't just stand by and watch us expand our influence. Scouts report, they have a military encampment near the lake, and will try to attack you from there. It's imperative that you don't fail this building project, as it'll provide the much needed infrastructure for future expansion. As construction quality stone, is stockpiled for the project, you're not allowed to raise any massive defensive structures. Although I'm sure a few maniples of our fine soldiers, are going to defend you just fine.

May Jupiter illuminate your way!

--- Notes: ---
This is a save game scenario, just load it and play.

--- Notes, may contain spoiler(s) ---
As stated in the instructions invasions are going to come only from the north near the lake.

Prefect Marty Finally taking on this one. And it´s certainly not easy, because of the prosperity rating at the limit. As a result, labour acces is very tricky, mainly in those detached farming areas and on the farming island.

PS. It would be easy to win by deleting all labor providing shacks in december to fulfill win criteria, but certainly not satisfactory. It´s different, certainly not like any other map I´ve seen, so you can expect high mark for creativity.

Prefect Marty Done. I won´t write full review, because I really don´t know what to say on playability. I won´t play it again, but the idea isn´t bad and I did have fun. But I faced severe problem with unemployment all the time with nothing to solve it. Finishing with 100 culture and 30 % unemployment. Cohoice where to start was a straightforward one: on the next side of river, after I realized where that River entry and exit points are, using only low bridge. It was however challenging to solve problem with limited space there, but it is the best spot for early trade, which is crucial. I appreciate the military side also. Not disturbing my city building, but stretching the budget. I ended up in debt and people were unhappy with high tax and unemployment. I would avoid placing too many vacant lots the next time.
The rest was just to build my city, again, the placing of my housing was pretty clear.
The dull part of game came right after that. I´ve been just placing slowly more vacant lots to fulfill pop. requirement, which took maybe 10 years.

This map has a strange history, in the sense it was not supposed to be shared. I've created it to fill up my city building gaps, but in the end decided to convert it into a scenario. It was peaceful at first, but I added some movement to complement it a bit. It was more or less revolving around the limited space, and mainly to remove any and all feeder houses from the game, which pushed me to put the prosperity at this level /I love how GI look ;)/ Still I'm glad you liked it, even though I'd agree that there is no replayability value to this map.
