I don't know if you are aware, but in the capital here we have a political quake, and I'm afraid for the future of our endearing Republic. Gnaeus Pompeius had been sent to dispose of the pirates in the Mediterranian sea, and I guess, you, my friend, were caught in the middle of these events.

I feel uncertainty about the official word from Roma, as sandstorms are said to be common in that part of the Empire, so I will brief you on what I know about your assignment.
I've been told Tarsus is a desolate place, dusty and inhospitable, but it is of a economical importance. Many caravans pass through there, and the good access to the sea provides ample opportunity for trade. It was discussed, and agreed upon, to establish a trade post at that location, not a simple port, but a small prosperous town. Ironically, you being so young, will decide if Rome's coffers are full or empty.
Your abilities, as a magistrate, are going to be tested while managing that harsh, arid patch of land. Reading reports from the war effort left me with an impression, that you will have to plan and build a city on uneven terrain - dunes, and more dunes. This, for sure, will force you to consider carefully your water system, since unhampered construction of aqueducts won't be possible.

I'd forgotten to tell you that, it seems there are no military movements around Tarsus, and I think you shouldn't worry about invasions.

Very good, I did have fun, and I´m playing it the third time actually! This map is ideal for city layout experiments and the scenario is just a background (so it is not a 5), 100 players would discover at least 25 possible approaches!

Balance: 2
Here I must take points, even if I don´t want to, because i had fun. The only challenge is terrain, there is notthing more to challenge player´ skill. No military (that is not a problem for everyone, some players would favour this), money is easy to earn and so on. If I wasn´t so thrilled by my city planning, I wouldn´t want to play this again. But the most important complaint is lack of requests. There are so few requests that player is forced to send gifts if he´s hanging arount longer( which is likely to happen if he´s trying to build something special) since milestones are set as they are (I don´t want to tell the other players).

Creativity: 3
There is nothing new, it is simmilar to Barberousse´s Athenae. The concept is, however, good, so there is a 3. Moreover, those maps are simmilar, but scenarios are not. Tarsus is peaceful, easy and enjoyable, so I don´t want to make a bad overall rating :-D Definitely a 3, there are just a few simmilar challenges on C3 heaven.

Map Design: 4
The map worked out very well, it was certainly modelled with care. It´s not a 5, because the aesthetical look of this map is not very good, but the citybuilding aspect ist just perfect. The map limits players where they are intended to be and leave them room to breathe where it should.

Story/Instructions: 5
The story was very good, certainly a 5. There has been a dialogue, a fictive background story and a clear briefing for the mission.

Additional Comments:
I think that 3,6 stars is appropriate rating for your scenario. My complaints, except for that on lack of reqests, are just a thing of personal preferences. I point out just (somewhat) unnatural map design. Keep posting!

The modest population requirement allows for a variety of ways to approach the map, and with no military activity to worry about, you can start at a leisurely pace. No gatehouses are allowed, so you’ll have to adjust if you’re used to them.

There aren’t a lot of requests here which is a drawback because you might have to wait for a request to finish the scenario. Of course, you could send a gift if you’ve finished the other requirements, but I prefer not to.

Good use of plateaus to cover portions of the map so you're forced to build on them. They also provide a way to separate your food sources, though a small patch seems to have strayed away from the main farmland.

A well-written story accompanies the mission.

Most players can get into this easily. It's a peaceful scenario with standard difficulty, which you can certainly increase with an additional goal or two.
