Ok, I thought I would put this up, in completed cities, called ‘The Grand Forum-so far’, it’s not finished yet but it’s an idea of what I’ve been trying to do for a long while now. A few things about it-
1)-I made it easy for myself, plenty of start up money, resources etc.
2)-I didn’t really want to put the governor’s residence where it is, but it was the only way I could find to make the nearby palace evolve to luxury.
3) the military are there for the sole purpose of marching up and down the square, a la Monty Python.
4)there aren’t as many people walking around the forum as I want yet, but I might overcome that by lining the Grand Via into it with buildings etc.
5)at the southeast end of the sea (bottom left corner) I am developing a sea-side resort.
6) I am going to put some little resorts near the lakes in the middle of the forests.
Anyway, if any of the veterans of this great game would like to comment, I would be very appreciative-I am sure I could have done this better, but this one is at least my thirtieth attempt at it.
Also, does anyone know of an approximate way to calculate how many sprites are on a map, without having to pause it and count them all?
Remaining building sprites can be calculated by placing as many vacant lots as you can in one mouse sweep from one corner of the map to the other, so that the message "Data Limit Reached" appears. Provided you have enough room. Work out the cost to treasury of doing this and divide it by 10, that tells you how many building sprites are left.
You cannot easily ascertain how many walker sprites remain, but you can tell if you are over or near the limit by deploying 6 forts of soldiers and ordering them back to their forts all at once. If you are close to the walker limit some soldiers will be lost. Cutting off water to your houses to create a mass of homeless before doing this will give you more of an idea as well.
