please read this. it contains quite important info.

although this city isn't very big, it's almost perfectly balanced. houses are medium and grand insulae (medium because of lack of room to expand into). only problem might be that one housing block occasionally runs out of furniture or oil, but this is often countered so quickly that citizens don't even get the chance to leave. this rarely happens though.

no fires or outbreaks, perfect city mood, perfect access to entertainment (for so far present), health and education, except hospitals or academies, but these are innessesary.

annual netto inflow is between 7000 and 10000 dinarii, all population registered for tax although not perfect. i seem to be missing a few houses then and now, which isn't registered in the percentage. wood, fruit and clay is imported, oil, furniture and pottery exported. economy can cope perfectly with demands of housing and traders at the same time.

possible improvements:

there are a seemingly pointless market, theatre, granary and a warehouse for furniture in the south-west part of the city. these are deliberate. without the market, the housing block will keep losing access to furniture and have not enough food for comfort, although enough to survive. the one thing to improve about this is to switch the theatre and market around to reduce the distance, but this might result in a temporary lack of goods in that area due to the destruction of the previous market.

try constructing a warehouse for wheat and a dock to export wheat to rome. however, you will need another housing block for this, which could prove a major challenge to manage as good as the others. the best place for the housing would be the north-west, after you construct another road and possible a warehouse for furniture. a good idea for producing the furniture in that location is to simply construct a whole new industry there, including timber yards.

if you need extra workers, DO NOT destroy any buildings. i assure you, each one is absolutely nessesary, although it may seem too much.

i might add that the city is very UNstable when you first load it, cos all the workers haven't done their rounds yet, or to say it better, aren't vusy doing their rounds yet. they're all newly generated. the problem dissapears after a while.

one more thing on swapping the market and theatre:

build a secondary market and theatre first. then switch them around, and when they're running properly, demolish the secondary ones if you want to.
