Ive looked at so many scenarios and merged couple ideas togather to bring you this. Goal is to surviive 60 years i believe it was. You are supplied with rich lands however limited resources, you will very much rely on trade with fellow friends from other cities as well as natives.
There are a few tricky places in the map, therefore prepare well. Expect enemies to attack from all sides of the map, therefore the challenge itself is to build a city which does not touch the corners of the map :) Well North-East is safe as no attacks are from there.
The armies get larger, with quick invasions from the start and unexpected uprisings you will need a quick start to build your army. Infact when I was testing the map army was the first thing I started with and it got me through the scenario.
As most maps here have a little history ill just make up one ;)
"Now that Rome conquered the greek cities, the mighty macedonians seek to reclaim their lost lands thousands of years ago. Since Romes war with greeks has finished they think Rome is weak therefore are ready to strike right away. With limited time to build cities, Caesar relies on you to defend the Greek States."
Hope you enjoy the map, dont cheat by looking at mapeditor :P ruins the fun!
I repeatedly had to save in order to deal with the invasions, especially near the end. There weren't any impossible tasks to complete, although the army requests were a nice touch. With a bit of anticipation on the part of the player this map is 'average', not 'hard'.
Balance: 3
The invasions are quite carefully planned so there is time to evolve the city as well as the military. The long survival time adds some challenge workforce-wise and so it isn't a singular 'survive' map in a strict military sense of the word.
Creativity: 3
Being a survival scenario, the planned events are only to be expected. The Caesar-change was a nice touch, explaining away the high favour rate.
Map Design: 3
There's ample farmland around, something I like. The rocky areas make a natural impression. Liked the native parts scattered around the map as well. Water's a bit on the short side but that adds to the challenge.
Story/Instructions: 2
There isn't much of a story really. It was just like the title said it would be. And: survive. Perhaps, with these particular instructions, this map is for more experienced players only.
Additional Comments:
As said earlier, the invasions are to be expected, although near the end of the scenario things get really sick hehe. The continuous sound of horns keep me awake at night. :)
What bothered me though was that I had to send an average army to liberate Capua... I didn't have enough forces (only 42 after an invasion) and STILL got a triumphal arch.
