Full briefing attached in ZIP file. In short, this is a heavy military and medium level economic mission with trouble from wolves too. Several requests from Caesar, all for moderate amounts. No spectacular disasters (e.g. earthquakes), but severe pressure from Helvetii and raiders. The scenario has been successfully played and reviewed by Clifford. Enjoy!

I understand some players may have trouble reading the mission briefing; it's written in Lotus Word Pro for some reason instead of a simpler format such as Notepad. For the sake of completeness I will retype it here.

"Hail Governor! Caesar has a task for you which is sure to be worthy of your skill. Having conquered and assimilated the cities and peoples of the Italian peninsula, Caesar now wishes to expand the empire to the North. Our scouts have reported an ideal location for a major Roman hub in the foothills of the Alps. The road into this area is very rugged, but leads into a fertile plain with ample resources to establish your city. Be warned, however, that wild beasts abound in this area -- in fact, not all of our scouts returned safely to Rome. Further, our scouts heard terrifying rumors of savage fighting men in the mountains. But we are Romans! Let neither foreign army nor hostile fauna stand in the way of building our keystone city in this region! The task before you is difficult, but I assure you it is vital to the continued expansion of our empire, and Caesar himself will reward you richly for your success."

Designer's notes: Wolf Canyon is intended to be a challenging military assignment. It is based on Empire State 4, Mediolanum. Starting funds may be a bit tight but a modest bailout loan is available. Requirements for the city are 6000 population, 50 culture, 55 prosperity, 40 peace, and 70 favor. Enjoy!

The Map was very well designed, few small things like making the RtR two tiles over one tile.

I got what I expected from the description.

Good map, challenging. 8.5 out of 10 for difficulty.

I first gave this map a 4.8/5.0, and it is a very good map. Being one of my first reviews however, I probably was a little too generous, hence the modified score.

This map is only for advanced players. I had to play it second time in order to complete it. I feel map is bit overdone in terms of military but still doable

DONOT READ THIS AS IT CONTAINS SPOILERS. Read only if you are unable to complete this map

I made 48 wheat farms. All houses were large insulae in my city. No tents but one (which could have been evolved). First tip is to start on small island to the south of the map. In order to do this you have to transport wolves from the road to rome island to the larger one(where farmland is) by putting low bridge. Once wolves are there put gatehouses and walls in order to build a pathway for immigrants to reach to small island to the south. Start from there. Get your exports running from early on. Use your GLADIATORS AND LIONS AGAINST ENEMIES. This will make things easier. There will be continuous attacks from natives as well. So nlions and glads will help a lot in reducing damage. Properity is easy, once you upgrade all housing to LARGE INSULAE. Do not make forts as they will keep your army making process at bay. As I said lions and glads will do.
