By Jupiter! It is a time of crisis. The Carthaginians are on the move once again. This time they have laid eyes on Dion. Dion is a small Roman city near Carthage, it is built as a forward colony for the Empire to get hold of this region. The province is not exactly rich in resources, but the area has strategic importance in military manners. This city must be defended! That is why I call you to set things right.
Dion has a large wall around it, but the city has no military facilities or towers whatsoever. The location is not suitable for mining, so you must import the iron and weapons you need. Bolsters the defences and raise legions as soon as possible so you can take on the Carthaginians. The city itself is decent with some minor problems, but you as a governor can fix the usual problems with ease. I am confident about it.
The desert is harsh and can conjure sandstorms often and the rough sea can block your trade once a while. Rome is need for oil and wine, so fulfil my requests to gain my favour. Defend the city and maintain Roman rule in the province!
TL;DR:
Short Military Survival
Import iron/weapons
Reduced income
Prebuild starter colony
Fill requests to gain favour
Notes: Load as a saved game. Completely fictional scenario.
Playability: 3
I really enjoyed playing this scenario but was disappointed with the ending. the 100 favour rating on 1st January means that you loose whatever you do. ( I replayed 6 times the last year sending boatloads of lavish gifts but on 1st of Jan the rating always slips a few points ... and sends you to the Ben Hur workout)
Balance: 4
This is 90% a military scenario. 10% your income shrinks. that's fine with me
Creativity: 5
I thought it was well done
Map Design: 4
I loved the little outpost city which was built
Story/Instructions: 4
As I just stated the whole idea of an outpost sounds great to me.
Additional Comments:
SPOILER ALERT:
This scenario is a Carthaginian soldier conveyor belt!
I enjoyed having a scenario which was quite challenging without being sadistic
