Finally it is here. This is the long awaited sequel to Tarraco Archipelago VIII, the next in the Archipelago series. My sincerest apologies that it took so long. This is a map scenario, it needs to be started from the City Construction Kit. Because of that, you have the ability to select the starting difficulty.
What is the Archipelago series?
In a nutshell, the Archipelago series is a dedication to Caesar III's most underrated building: the bridges. The maps in the Archipelago series usually consist of multiple islands or peninsular separated by water that can be bridged at preset points. Technically, in these maps, the bridges are a must to complete the scenario, thus giving the bridges more use in the game.
Features in this installment:
-Carefully designed map that allows players to connect lands together via bridges at many different points.
-Some military activity, which gives players the excuse to construct certain military buildings that could help in city building (such as the gatehouses).
-Distant battles, which upon victory give players the ability to construct Triumphal Arches to aid in desirability increase.
Enjoy the map, comment/rate/review if you want to, and please let me know if there are any issues with the map. Just because it is the tenth revision, does not mean there is no room for improvement.

Brief description:
Construct a beautiful city in this installment of the Archipelago series. An idyllic setting for a large city along the islands of southern Greece. Honor the gods and treat your people well.
Detailed description:
It is the year 90 B.C., 10 years after you have managed to successfully establish a glorious city on the islands along Tarraco. It was quite a feat to fill some rocky islands with 6,500 people while maintaining the standards of a Roman city. Since you have such a talent, it should not be wasted. You will enjoy this next assignment.
This assignment was given to you not out of duty, but of goodwill. The islands along Corinthus, unlike Tarraco, are beautiful, and strategic. It is not an obstacle or a challenge to you, but rather an opportunity for you to demonstrate your immense skills of connecting lands together. We know that you have a taste for art, and artistic value would do Corinthus well if it is to flourish as a fine city.
See if you can get 10,000 people into these islands, governor. Remember, you can do it at your own leisure, but if your reputation precedes you, I am guessing we will be seeing another watery metropolis in no time.
Winning conditions:
80 Culture
85 Prosperity
95 Peace
90 Favor
10,000 Population
Hints:
You have the advantage of terrain! Make use of your strategic location and eliminate invaders before they have a chance to strike back!
Bridges make for excellent bottleneck points against swarms of invaders.
Scout reports:
There will be some attacks in these islands, but should not be something you cannot handle.
There are no natives in the area. Therefore, you cannot construct mission posts.
Change log:
Revision I - redesigned the map, adding and moving some bridge points as well as aesthetics.
Revision II - relocated the fishing points as well as the river entry and exit.
Revision III - moved the invasion points away from the road to Rome and the Empire.
Revision IV - added more fertile land to different islands.
Revision V - totally revamped and rebalanced the price changes. There is a feel of "survival" game mode now, where early price changes deter the player while late price changes favor the player.
Revision VI - Removed the herd points and the natives from the map. Players now can focus entirely on the building of the city.
Revision VII - Changed some invasions to distant battles, and enabled the building of Triumphal Arches.
Revision VIII - Further removed random events. No surprises for the player.
Revision IX - Rebalanced the Emperor's requests. Also lowered the winning conditions, except for the population requirement, which is increased.
Revision X - allowed the building of walls, gatehouses and towers. Also further added more empty land where players can locate their forts. |
