The Londinium Bridge Crisis
by Hikumi
Northern provinces
Very large province
Many invasions likely
Extremely hard assignment
Map statistics:
Starting funds: 20,000
Rescue loan: 15,000
Rank: Consul
Year: A.D. 50
Brief desciption:
You govern a city that bears witness to great architectural monuments. Unfortunately, everything has lifespans. This is why you can't have nice things. Expect some military activity.
Detailed description:
Londinium is as good a city before as it is today. You will have access to every resources to construct a flourishing city, and you have a full army to defend your city while you do so. So what is so hard about that?
The hard part is not about the routine part of the city building you usually do. It is when you realize the gods have forsaken your city and would make things much harder for you. However, part of the challenge (and fun, if I so say) is to overcome that disadvantage, and still manage to recover the city into glory.
The coasts are joined by ship bridges near the center. You will have to use them anyway, because you cannot construct bridges. Starting to sound bad? There is no fishing here, but you still can conduct sea trade. Maybe this sounds ridiculous, but you should focus on building your city on only one side of the coast. Get 6,250 people into your city, but you are welcome to do more.
Winning conditions:
65 Culture
70 Prosperity
75 Peace
80 Favor
6,250 Population
Hints:
Lots of walls and towers will slow enemies down.
It could be good idea to focus building on only one side of the map.
Scout reports:
Your city lacks the knowledge and materials to construct bridges. You can use the already available bridges there. There are no reasons for you to demolish them. However, there have been reports on structural faults on the bridges.
Wild animals lurk around the borders of the cities, where enemies also come from. However, they are walled out, for now.
There is no fishing in this area. However, sea trade is available.
Change log:
Finally decided to totally disallow the building of bridges. (I used to just place rocks along river banks to prevent players from rebridging, but then people started complaining about not being able to build docks! -Hikumi)
Also, finally remembered to disable fishing wharves.
