I have plenty of food stored and the granaries are right next to the market but I have many homes that still say they don't have food. No food is currently being stockpiled and all my buildings are fully staffed. Why are there homes without food if I have plenty?

Are the markets fully stocked with food? How far are the food markets from the houses? Are people walking too far?

The markets are not showing stocked with food. The markets are right next to the farms & granaries so there is very little walking distance. The granaries are full. I keep having to build more granaries to fit the food or mothball the farms.

If the markets are next to the granaries, they should be full of food. What are the market employees doing, are they walking to a different granary?

It looks like they are taking the food from the granaries but maybe it's just not fast enough to keep up with the consumption.

What happens if you build another food market? Or even two?

Not sure if that is the same problem ive had for quite a long time... but if it is.. i solved it building multiple markets.
I realized (especially in the crowded areas), that when the market gets refurnised, if there are too many people around, the food expires within seconds and it takes a little bit to bring more food in, even if the granary is really close.
For example, i (roughly) tend to build 1 food market for every 10 large insula, and put at least 3 granary (1 for each food) in a decent range from markets.
By doing so, all the people share amongs all the different markets allowing them to have time to replace the food without going empty asap.

As you say, you've had to place more than 1 granary. Grain and vegetables tend to be the main food source, while the fields are the same size. Try placing grain in one granary and one market and vegetables in another granary and market. That way, farmers take the food to one specific granary.
