I couldn't figure out a good subject line, but I basically wanted to say. That it is very very easy to consume an entire day playing this game. There is just so much micro managment going on. Unless the city is very steady, then you are always doing something. Specially at the very start. There is a ton of things to keep track off, and I typically just turn off God Effects, so it's one less to have to deal with right away.

Lately for me it's, trying to to find the right housing block that is stable, and simple enough to do it. All without taking up too much space.

I'm sure Brugle or some of the other regulars could recommend some nice housing-bloc layouts. It's always an interesting geometric design challenge.

I assume you're using gatehouses to insulate the inner loop of a bloc from external employment-access roadways?

Yes I use the gatehouse to limit where my walkers go, other wise it's a mess. I'm getting much better at the game, now that I have a deeper understanding of it, and able to strategize better. I've know of this forum sense I started playing back in 2000, so it's been a big help over the years.

Welp, I know that feeling.

Maybe post the save-file for a city you worked on at some point? We could take a look at the bloc-design then.

I posted a saved city in the downloads. Look for "Palace City" in the Completed Cities section.

Would you guys like me to move this thread to the Caesar 3 forum? It seems out of place here.

@Gnexus01: I had a look at the saved file. It's a pretty impressive city, both in terms of population and given all the palace blocs you've constructed.

My one major suggestion would be to construct your housing-blocs with housing on both the interior and exterior of the road loop- that way you can use other road loaps that touch on the exterior housing to provide employment access to farms, docks, industry etc., without compromising the internal loop. That should give you more reliable service coverage.

I built a small example city that's awaiting approval, but you take a look at a screenshot-example here.
