I couldn't figure out a good subject line, but I basically wanted to say. That it is very very easy to consume an entire day playing this game. There is just so much micro managment going on. Unless the city is very steady, then you are always doing something. Specially at the very start. There is a ton of things to keep track off, and I typically just turn off God Effects, so it's one less to have to deal with right away.
Lately for me it's, trying to to find the right housing block that is stable, and simple enough to do it. All without taking up too much space.

I'm sure Brugle or some of the other regulars could recommend some nice housing-bloc layouts. It's always an interesting geometric design challenge.
I assume you're using gatehouses to insulate the inner loop of a bloc from external employment-access roadways?

Welp, I know that feeling.
Maybe post the save-file for a city you worked on at some point? We could take a look at the bloc-design then.

I posted a saved city in the downloads. Look for "Palace City" in the Completed Cities section.
