This is the 3rd time through this scenario. The first two times I wound up pulling on a galley oar. :>(
I have noticed something odd all three times. I Open Trade with Sicilia and build a Trade Dock, Orders to sell Timber (Storing 48 Timber on the Dock), and adjust the Trade Adviser to sell 225 Timber/yr. I then Mothball the dock until I have enough workers (and they have been fed from the fully staffed farms). I have built 6 Timber Cutting Camps (4 Mothballed until they can be staffed).
Strangely enough, the Timber Cutters will immediately begin to store the Timber at the Dock, even though its in Mothballs.
Once Unmothballed, the Dock may have as many as 30 Timber stored. Ships have been coming by all this time, but as there was no help, wouldn't pick up any Timber. Now that there is help, ships keep coming by andmay pick up some timber. Once the dock is full (48 Timber), the ships will stop buying. No sales, no Denarii, and my Finances rapidly go to pot.
Do the Sicilian Ships want some room on the Dock to buy some Wool from them? I can't seem to get rid of the surplus as long as the Cutters are still supplying Timber, even if I adjust the storage of the dock down to 30. Also, when I do need the wool (for Armor), there is no room on the dock for it.
What to do?HELP!
Addendum
Started game from past SaveGame where I had just placed the Sicilian Dock. Re-set the orders to store only 24 Timber at the Dock. Later, re-set the orders to buy Wool (24 Max at Dock). The Sicilians were happy to sell me Wool (for Armor), but never would buy my Timber.
Noted later that the Post at Cisalpine Gaul would not buy my Furniture, but would sell me Iron.
I finally won this scenario, but Decurion Publius noted thatYou Cheated! since I had to Cheat to keep ahead of my Finances (Denarii = 16,000 extra). If I could have sold my stuff, I wouldn't have to cheat.
