All is not well in Cee-nineville. mafia has infiltrated your village! Its up to you to root out the scum via lynching.

The setup is one of the following (decided with random.org)

5 townies, 2 mafia. (25%)
4 townies 2 mafia 1 cop (25%)
4 townies 2 mafia 1 doc (25%)
3 townies 2 mafia 1 cop 1 doc (25%)

The townie role email looks like this:

Quote:

You are a townie. At day you may talk in thread and vote for someone.
You win if all scum have been eliminated. Any questions, email me!

The cop email looks like this:

Quote:

You are the cop. At nightyou may email me the name of a player, and you find out if they are scum or not.
You may not target yourself.
Any questions, email me!

the doc email looks like this:

Quote:

You are the doc. At night you may email me a name that player wont die. You may not target yourself.
Any questions, email me!

Confirm in thread!

Time for some observations I guess. While no one has been jumping up and down screaming ďIím scum! Iím scum!Ē, there has been a little bit of suspicious activity.

Supa_Psycheís comments are more careless than actually scummy (see posts 17 & 19), and as GC said

Quoted from Great Cornholio, post 20:

Then we need to keep an eye on you playa.

Thatís all the appropriate actions necessary at this stage, I think.

Also, CenturionZ_1ís comments are a bit interesting. He seems a bit over eager to: 1. get someone to claim cop; and 2. to get to the night:

Quoted from CenturionZ_1, post 10:

Given the smallness of this game...it will probably be at most 3 days, so if there is a cop in the game, I say claim as soon as you find scum...it's not worth holding out on information as you will probably be killed sooner than you think.
Damn day start...
So given how small the game is, are we going for a random lynch or no lynch?

But his one other post seems appropriate and Iím not convinced (yet) that heís scummy.

The player who stands out as the most likely scum candidate so far is Exorsis_C. The evidence so far (and itís not even close to being overwhelming, Iíll admit):

1. Eager to please and agree with whoever the previous poster was Ė see posts 12 & 16.

2. Casting suspicions on 2 players in post based on nothing really:

Quoted from Exorsis, post 21:

Why is da_hobo so quiet? He hasn't posted once since day 1 started.
And Supa_Psyke's comment sounds a bit suspicious.

3. And then just casting a random vote:

Quoted from Exorsis, post 25:

Before I go: Random vote Supa_Psyche.

Iím not sure if this is enough to lynch someone over, but itís the most suspicious behavior Iíve seen so far. At the very least, it gets my

Exorcis, have you ever played a game before? I haven't seen you here or in OD before.

I am willing to vote for her, or most anyone else, but I don't want to put her two votes away unless the majority of the town agrees that lynching her is a good idea.

At least let her return and defend herself first...it would be rather cruel to lynch an offline player.

I agree that we need to listen to Exorsis_C before we start voting to lynch her (sorry . . . didn't know she was a she), which is why I only put an FOS on her instead of just voting to lynch her.

No, I've never played a game before, which may be why some of my previous posts seem suspicious. I don't really know what to say to defend myself, except that I was trying to show that I am interested in the game and wanted to let my uncertainty about whether to lynch or not show.

The question about why da habo was quiet was just that: a question, since everyone else had posted I wanted to know why he hadn't. I had no intention on casting suspicion on him.

And to me Supa_Psyche's comment sounded suspicious, maybe I'm just overthinking stuff since I'm new to the game.

I still am not sure about lynching anyone today, but after having thought about what to do I have come to this conclusion: I have a feeling that you would find me even more suspicious if I withdrew my vote so I'm going to keep it for now. If some evidence appears that the vote is wrong, I'll withdraw it.

Oh, and I only voted since it seemed like most people thought that a no-vote would benefit the scum more. Like I said, I'm new to the game and learning as the game progresses.

Erm, if we no lynch, there is a 100% chance that we are in lynch or lose. If we try for a lynch, there is a chance (depending on the town/scum ratio) that it won't be lynch or lose.

Oh and exorsis, you gotta watch out because that kind of question is a very common way to try and accuse someone of something (like in this instance, lurking).

I understand that now. I'll be more careful with what I ask and how I phrase things from now on. I don't want to be lynched just because I don't know how to play yet.

Ah! We finally hear from Exorsis_C. Now it's for the rest of us to decide if she's telling the truth or pulling a Clifford.

And since you're new Ex C, "pulling a Clifford" means someone who is new to the game playing the "Please take it easy on me because I don't know how to play the game" card and it turns out the new person is actually scum. This was done to perfection by Clifford - his very first (and maybe last) game he ever played. He won the whole thing with this strategy. (He's also a real funny guy, it's too bad we haven't seen his name much around here lately).

Well, I'm not looking for any advantages because I'm new. If you think I deserve to be lynched then go ahead and lynch me. I'll probably learn something from that too. All I ask is that you guys keep in mind that maybe some of the things that seem suspicious to you comes from inexperience.

(Thanks for explaining the "pulling a Clifford", Rayotep.)

I know inexperience can lead to a few slips, but Exorsis...just be wary that in this game, with so little room to manoeuvre, the town can easily turn on you if we feel you are being more suspicious than just naive.

I have about the same thoughts on centurion as Rayotep. I don't like how he said that our only two options are "random lynch or no lynch". It seems like he's trying to make lynching sound like a bad idea. We could actually wait a little bit and have some discussion (unless no one posts), and make a nice sensible lynch, rather than throw away our day start.

You're welcome.

Agreed. Although, let's be honest - we almost always give a newcomer the benefit of the doubt and, at least for now, it looks like she'll be safe this first day.

Actually I agree with all that too.

So far, it looks like Centurion_Z is becoming our most likely candidate for being lynched. Although this doesn't necessarily mean that he actually is scum, but it's all we have to go on right now.

Before casting a vote though, I'd like to hear from GC.

Back after a weekend of house painting. Unvote, Vote Centurion_z

I'll take the heat for second vote. He's done nothing that bad but IMO a first day no lynch is bad for the town in almost every case and someone needs to break the ice.

Exorsis, welcome to mafia. Are you having fun or are you sorry you let me talk you into signing up?

Centurion_Z now has 2 votes on him. Deserved or not, he's on the hot seat and it's up to him to convince us why we shouldn't lynch him.

Thanks, GC. I'm having fun so you don't have to feel bad about persuading me to join this game. I learn more with every post I and everyone else makes and hopefully I'll do well enough to be allowed to play in other mafia games as well.

Where have I suggested our only option is no lynch? I've only left it on the table rather than through off that option completely.

GC - You've made an incredibly aggressive post giving you've not been in the discussion for a week. For now, I think you are just an aggressive townie...but your second vote is reckless and you should avoid allowing such easy bandwagons to start. I can see the mafia rubbing their hands, waiting for the right time to add a third and fourth vote.

But what if one of the two who have already voted for the same player is mafia? I don't understand why you are so set on the mafia being number three and four to vote. They can just as well be number one and two, actually starting the bandwagon. Or anywhere in the line of voting. Please, explain why you think they'll be the last two to vote, because I can't see why that scenario is more likely than any other.
