Ye Olde Towne is in trouble. Stuck in a remote part of the Mid-Western desert, it is being ceaselessly battered by daytime sandstorms seemingly conjured up by evil means. Night times are filled with death, by natural or unnatural causes. To make things worse, the town well seems to have dried up.

Can the town manouvre their way through the maelstrom of dead-ends to success? I doubt it.

Quoted from "Celt in Exile":

I have posted regularly, but not swamped the game when I actually have nothing to say or offer, which is exactly how I normally play

Yes, but that style lends itself very easily to staying hidden. Come to think of it, what exactly have you done this game? Who have you attacked? Who have you defended? Who have you affiliated yourself with? Have you planted information?

Our argument against you is that you're the only one who hasn't been cleared. We can possibly we this today, if not the game will be in lynch or lose tomorrow.

If you're town, sorry, but that's just the way the numbers came out. If you're scum, yay us!

That was fast.

So given that Supa's the cop, and he's cleared me, that leave's darth and Centy. So with the results of Supa's investigation, we should be able to pin this on one or the other. Supa?

I investigated Centy last night and got an innocent. So one of you three is a Godfather.

And I think we're in lynch or lose. We have to lynch correctly, otherwise we're done for.

I'm inclined to think it's Centy at the moment, earlier in the game ferret went to some trouble to disassociate himself from Centurion when he said "Centurion's playing exactly like I think scum would play" or something along those lines.

I'll have to see if VisMaior did anything as well.

Woops, turns out ferret voted for DarthBane, but it was just to force a role-claim.

Interesting is that ferret was on Centy's "probable townie" list. But ferret did play a good game this game, at least in my opinion.

Centy accused DarthBane in the very same post.

I'm going to be away until... probably sometime monday. I'm working for my sister over the easter holiday, and will be netless. Boo, hiss, and all that (Looking forward to some light reading and some heavy gaming, actually).

My only question is, if centy and ferret were both scum, wouldn't they have both lived/died in the bar brawl? Surely they would have worked together?

(And before anyone says "Oh, but you didn't vote for Vismaior to be lynched." Simple reason for it. I was at the Royal Albert Hall all day, rehearsing and then performing in front of 5000 people. Came home and it was night.)

Anyway, going back to the matter of who could be scum... watchwood was cleared very early on in the game, but then continued to play a scummier game than most I've seen. Hiding behind a Godfather's investigation immunity? Quite possibly. His roleclaim? An alien from outer space. Yet, being an intergalactic traveller, he has "no powers". Hmmmmmmmmmmm. He waited until everyone else had roleclaimed, to post a claim so outrageous that nobody would bother to question it. And of course, he said he was powerless, thus making himself sound less important.

And notice today, how quickly he slapped a vote on Centy. I considered Centurion's scum status, but also realised there could be a chance of a godfather in this game (remember, it's not a mini). And not once, but twice, watchwood ignored the fact that I'd been cleared by Supa, even when it was directly pointed out to him. Centurion didn't believe there could be a godfather in the game, so I'm more inclined to believe his innocence.

So...

Vote: watchwood

I realize that that does make a lot of sense, especially given my questionable playstyle as of late. Particularily given my powerless role as an alien from outer space. (trust me, I found it hard to believe, too)

As for an actual defense, I'm afraid that I've given you what passes for one in this case. Best I can do is request that Supa go into more detail about his findings, in hopes that we'll be able to find something more useful.

This is every post watchwood has made.

Quoted from "watchwood":

Ya...

So anyone here know what the Emporer of Scotland actually meant?

Not much to be gleaned from this. Speculating about game mechanics is always safe though. I do it all the time when I'm scum, gives a good impression that you're contributing. I do it when I'm town too, but never at the expense of discussing players.

Quoted from "watchwood":

vote: DB

No real reason. While I realize that we're going exactly nowhere with this, I find the irony just too damned satisfying.

Fair enough. Interesting thing is, ferret tried to start a bandwagon against him next post. It didn't start because everyone followed the serial killer and voted me (how ironic, I'm certain we were all laughing, at least I am).

Quoted from "watchwood":

That's what? 4 votes? I think I'd like to hear from Supa before committing mine, despite the solid argument against him.

This is something I would do were I playing scum and had missed the opportunity to jump early on a bandwagon.

Quoted from "watchwood":

The alternative to telling or not telling is simply a scum/notscum reply. That would tell us whether or not to lynch, without revealing any possible pro-town roles.

I'm not sure what to make of this. Again it's a fairly safe statement, and I'd probably say something similiar were I scum. Arguing about how to play as cop doesn't help us find scum, and it's a good way for scum to hide behind. Lots of other players did the same as well though. Ferret was one of those, but so was Celt In Exile.

Quoted from "watchwood":

Agreed.

And I should point out that you're going in circles with the reveal/no reveal arguement.

To me this posts makes him more likely to be town. Scum want the town to go around in circles, it makes it easier to manipulate and hide.

Quoted from "watchwood":

Unless you're scum, at which point you can simply not kill him tonight to live.

Well, we all agreed that FM's plan was pretty screwy.

Quoted from "watchwood":

Well, since we're down a doc, I think it might be wise to have those investigation results revealed.

This I find pretty interesting. The scum would have wanted all my investigation results, so they could clear me, then take out everyone I confirmed. Town would also want my results, as I probably would've died that night. I'm surprised I'm alive. But I think scum would want my results more than townies.

Quoted from "watchwood":

Definately. We could see all sorts of weird and wacky roles.

Watchwood initially supports the idea of mass claim. Then he claims last. Don't know what to make of it, maybe someone else can.

Quoted from "watchwood":

I've seen something similar once, a while ago. It's pretty rare, though.

This is where watchwood says the ferret's role could exist. It sort of clears ferret, but in a way it doesn't.

Quoted from "watchwood":

@theferret - While I've been cleared, I must confess that my lack of activity is for relatively stupid reasons. I've been spending far too much of the past while playing Neverwinter Nights. And waiting anxiously for the word from the various college that I've applied to.

I've never known a player to lie about external circumstances. Simply because it would be so low, they'd likely die of guilt.

Quoted from "watchwood":

Well, I guess I'm the only one who's not yet claimed now, and given that someone said that I should claim earlier on, here I go:

I am an alien from outer space, sent to spy on the humans. I win with the town, though. No powers, either.

I don't really follow half of the logic you guys have went through in the last page or so, but I'll go through it later tonight and see what I can figure out.

Fairly safe claim.

Quoted from "watchwood":

Since I too have been confirmed by Supa, that leaves you and Darth. Since we've a 50/50 chance, it's pretty much a win in the bag.

Well, we don't have a 50/50 chance. The town really has a 25% chance, but since I'm relatively cleared it's 33.3% Normally I'd suggest no-lynch at this point in the game, but it's likely whoever is scum would just knock me off, putting the town back in this position, and we'd waste a day. And I'd be dead.

Quoted from "watchwood":

That was fast.

So given that Supa's the cop, and he's cleared me, that leave's darth and Centy. So with the results of Supa's investigation, we should be able to pin this on one or the other. Supa?

He'd forgotten I'd cleared Darth. Interesting enough was that watchwood didn't vote for Celt In Exile. Scum afraid of being caught lynching a townie? Only explanation I can think of for the absence of his vote.

Quoted from "watchwood":

I missed that, which I guess leaves centy as our default choice.

vote: Centurion

I don't know if he realized we were in Lynch-Or-Lose. But I'd probably do the same too if I was town in watchwood's position.

Quoted from "watchwood":

I realize that that does make a lot of sense, especially given my questionable playstyle as of late. Particularily given my powerless role as an alien from outer space. (trust me, I found it hard to believe, too)

Well, re-reading the thread I'm growing more and more suspicious of DarthBane. Maybe we could all do some more analysis, rather than just sitting back.

Mental note to myself and everyone else: Ferret voted for DarthBane to force a claim, then quickly unvoted as soon as he could, and changed his vote to CiE. Could it be that he's disassociating himself from DarthBane, in what is a very safe way? As well this, could it be that ferret was telling his scum partner to claim quickly, so he could stay hidden.

Ferret would do exactly that. Also, DarthBane has been on a couple of townies' "likely scum lists".

Centurion, you've also been relatively cleared, what do you think?

I would just like to say Supa was not the only one to clear me...GC also cleared me because he confirmed I was indeed the tosser which meant I killed anything I had a fight with (which unfortuantely I did because GC got me, Debbie and ferret fighting.)

That leaves WW and DB the only two cleared by the cop alone which means one of those is the Godfather.

I'm inclined watchwood at the moment. I remember a few pages back, when watchwood was first cleared by Supa, there was still an air of scumminess around him.

Darth claims he's a colonel. If he's telling the truth, it would be best to keep him as he can change the GF's vote...

I really don't like WW's alien claim. Surely an alien would have special powers?

You'd think so, but my alien role is primarily as an observer, which I'm assuming means that I left the ray guns and anal probing kits at home. I wasn't exactly thrilled with the role, myself.

I'm going away tomorrow, and I'll be away for a week.

I'm going to Proxy my vote to Centurion, on the grounds he juxtaposes watchwood's and DarthBane's posts before ending the game. He's the most confirmed.

If I were watchwood and scum however, I'd be voting for DarthBane. It would be the best scum move to make, but that doesn't preclude him from being scum simply because he didn't do it.

I'll see you all when I return.
