Time passes and once again I feel motivated to build another custom campaign for this great game.
This one will be titled "The Shaman of Yin Oasis". It will be different from my usual offerings. Instead of "Very Hard", it will be rated "Normal". I decided to tone down the difficulty this time for a variety of reasons, with perhaps the most important reason being the steady flow of new players trying Emperor for the first time.
The storyline of this campaign will be fictional, but it will be based on true events. In the mid 9th century CE, the Tang emperor Wuzong began a systematic persecution of the Buddhist religion throughout the Middle Kingdom. This led to the destruction of monasteries and the death and/or imprisonment of many Buddhist followers. This persecution ended upon Wuzong's death in 846 CE, but the damage had been done.
This is where the campaign begins. The new Tang emperor will send the player to Yin Oasis, located along the Hexi Corridor in western China. This oasis is the site of a former Buddhist monastery that was destroyed by the Tang. The player is ordered to build a city at the site, but there is a catch - a powerful Shaman who survived the destruction also lives there, and he must be appeased for the city to survive.
The scope of this campaign will be small, one map and three missions. The missions will have some scripting but not much, this will keep things in the spirit of 'normal' difficulty. And here is the biggest change you will notice from my prior campaigns - the missions will have NO TIME LIMITS on them.
The map will be 'enormous' size with arid climate. It will show ruins from the prior monastery that the player can remove or use as visual clues to decide where to build things (like monuments).
I have created a Gallery album for the playtesting, you can find it here:

I anticipate a release date in early 2019. As usual, I will make entries to this post from time to time to share my progress and thoughts. All of you are welcome to reply as well with your comments.
