A few of you may have bumped into the straw thread on the Game Help forum and wondered:
"What the >bleeep< is this doing here."

So I might as well open up a nice piece of prime forum estate and hand it over to MRed.

This would seem an excellent time for me to enter the bazzar.

As Wend will testify, my mirrors are of an unsurpassed quality.

Do you still need 10?

I have the mirrors, I just need them set up so as to shine the light on the Bast statues in the garden in the front of the mastaba....

OK

I'll need to get some timbers for the supports.

I think that they need to be quite high to gather the light well.

They should be up by the end of the day. I know a carpenter who can help. He has 3 apprentice boys also.

Sits back and apologizes.
Sorry for the delay, friend, I went off and played my Caesar game, and was lost in its world...But I am back, and I am ready to barter. Up on my end of the table, 100%, Grade A Oriental Spices, from the Orient! Now, where do we begin from here?

Sits back, has no pillows, so falls flat. Then sits up and tries to look as if it wasn't his first time bartering.

As I am well stocked up on Oriental spices, I must decline your fine offer. But I would be willing to take some tonnage of Aswan granite....

Lady Red, I think that message went missing. Maybe the messenger was caught in the flood. I've only just arrived back in Kemet and wanted to tell you the Lady PAC and Lady Incontipatra are doing fine.
They are about to cross into Parsia.

MRed, Looks like you could be OK for Aswan granite if Titanicus comes up trumps, so maybe I could help you out with some bartenders. I do have a few young men in mind - they're more used to dragging carts of straw around (or more often, sitting on the river's edge gazing hopefully for somewhere to dump their straw), but I'm sure with a little instruction, they should do fine. I've always found them VERY amenable & adaptable. How many would you like and when?

gazing wistfully at Perry's empty kennel and thinking of all the fun over at MRed's place, Liz wonders if an expired Wisconsin bartenders license could be succesfully renewed and transferred to the new Kingdom.....

Granite, did someone mention granite?????? My long suffering and about-to-suffer-the-complete-loss-of-a-wife-when-Pharoah-arrives husband has some good connections in the trade unions around here.......and come to think of it, there's a Brick and Block place just down the road and they just leave that stuff lying around all the time.....

I think we could scare up a bit of marble too....and we would be willing to trade for some kohl, perhaps a few nice shabtis, slate, and the use of some wall painters...

Liz

MRed is sitting at her table, a mighty between her eyes...cause she can't get her hands on a copy of "Pharaoh".......All of a sudden, she hears the gates open, and some of her friends appear, all of them wearing the same between their eyes......

Ah, Liz...I have received a special dispensation allowing you to use your "expired" bartender's license at my compound for as long as you care to stay. The only requirement is that you place a small, unobstrusive "tip" jar on the bar where you work. This we have to give to the "licenser" at the end of the block in the small blue building... I will be happy to take the granite, and the marble off of your hands, and in exchange will give you 70 jars of the finest Kohl to be found in Egypt, 24 cartloads of Shabtis, (whatever that is) 36 tons of slate, and 14 wall painters that have just finished their commission with me.....

Will this be satisfactory to you?

Gill, I will be happy to house, clothe, and feed all of the bartenders you can find.....

Please let me know as soon as possible about these things, as I am anxious to get the place completed by the time I obtain the scroll with my game on it.....

Oh, Jahakemhotep, you wonderful man!! did you say that you know where to obtain scorpions, snakes, and vultures complete with display containers??? Please let me know ASAP....Just a warning, tho...the minute that scroll appears, the gates will be locked for the duration.....Best be bringing your own scroll and reader with you, as I have no idea as to how long we will be locked in here.....I have stocked the store-rooms, and all are welcome to hole up here for the duration.....
And Trevor, The mirrors are going in beautifully. The statues of Bast will be lit so wonderfully! A thousand thanks....

The angel appears at the door of the residence and knock three times on the ceder door. Behind him is a small donkey train, loaded with boxes.

The door opens and Kiya looks out,
"Can I help you, your angelship?"
"I bring the creepy crawlies, the Lady MRed requested."

The door flies open as MRed, in acloud of smoke, pushes her way past her steward.
"Wonderful, Jah' follow me inside."

The angel and his three donkeys enter the residence. Kiya takes one more look outside and closes the door.

Ah, PAC! what a journey you have had....I am so glad that you made it in one piece and brought so many Dung Beetles with you! And the camels are perfect! I wasn't expecting a matched set!! And an added bonus! An Elephant!!? Well done, my friend!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart...

And Jahakemhotep! Creepy crawlies of all kinds! What a treat! They will be much appreciated, I am sure.

Wow, this place is really coming along....

PAC, all I need from you is a list of the extra food you think we will need, and we should be all set.

The mirrors are almost set up, and the rest of the things...except for the Aswan granite and the stele, are done....

Join us for the evening meal, won't you?

Thank you all so much for your help... I could never have done it without all of my friends....

I think we can relax and wait for the game to arrive, and have some fun, and anticipate the Christmas party...

MRed, gazing around her at the beauty of her home, noticed suddenly the opening index of the forum on her computer screen..something had changed, although she wasn't sure what...After gazing at it for a while, she noticed that some of the icons for things had changed....the "bullets" were now little pyramids, and the "preferences" icons were now much enhanced...

"Ah," she whisphered..."I guess they are sprucing the place up, too, getting ready for the big Party... Mighty fancy stuff going on around that Pharaoh forum..."

As she gazed out the window, she noticed a small furry creature flitting out of the gate.......
"Oh, Angel Reckyamun, going back to work on the Heaven site...sure has been nice to have him here for a year...He has done wondrous things in that year!

MRed, we graciously accept your offer of kohl, shabtis, slate and wall painters. With that many shabtis, perhaps I can put them together and get out of work in my current existence rather than waiting for the afterlife!!

My gracious neighbor was kind enough to give me a sledge and a half dozen cattle to pull it. If 30 cartloads of granite and 10 of marble are not enough, please send the cattle and driver back again for more. Otherwise, enjoy the cattle (may I recommend a nice beer marinade?), and I'm sure you can find work for the driver. The fields between us are dry and barren right now, so it may take them a day to reach you.

The tip jar requirement will not be a problem!! I'm looking forward to serving only beer I always hated making brandy old fashioneds over and over!!

Oh, SHABTIS!! I must have been having a "off" day.....How could I have forgotten what those are??? Here is a pic provided so nicely by Liz.....

And, byt he way, Liz, we will have two kinds of beer and only Ra knows how many varieties of wine....but I PROMISE...No Brandy old fashioneds. I don't allow that in my house.......

Oh, YIPPPPPEEE!!!!! The granite I have been waiting for for my stele....I have all the workers here, but have had no granite......Ok, boys...GET TO WORK! You have until wednesday midnight to get started, and the first stone will be placed by me.....

OH, JOY to behold.....

Pharaoh Titanicus, I would be thrilled with the Emerald green with white streaks marble....It is a deal.....Please deliver ASAP. Storage yard #8 has some room in it. The costumes are in storage yard # 4, waiting for you. Thank you, thank you.

Angel Jahakemhotep, I have one sledge worth of the granite already, the sledge has gone back for one more load, and I think that will be enough. But, I have no pieces worthy of the capstone. I would be most grateful for a piece that would be worthy of that honor. I will gladly trade you anything you can think of for the finest piece of Aswan granite you can find.

PAC, How's that list coming along?

Harkon: How many more tankards, steins, or glasses do you think we will need?

Incontipatra: Please keep Tusky out of the beer, else we won't have any left for the party. He is welcome to browse and graze in the barley farms, however....And I have set the brewers to making some beer just for him, in vast vats.

Has anybody seen Angel Et Flavius lately? I need him to do something for me.....

MRed gazes at the compound, the sunlight shining off of the newly started stele, and at the brawny, tanned young men who are busily cutting, smoothing, polishing, and laying the stones on it. The jeweler is busy in his tent, sorting and grading the wonderful treasure trove that Wen N'Bet Mer has had delivered; and the dust is finally settling over the compound from the departure of the sledge, heading back for another load of the wonderful granite she has traded Liz for....She smiles, and turns to Angel Jahakemhotep and says, "I am so grateful for all of you, and the help you have given me. Wait till the rest of the group sees this place. It is a "palace" worthy of the Christmas Party...."

Angel Jahakemhotep smiles back, and with a flick of his wings, rises gracefully into the air and flies away....

Sends off shimpent to storage yard #8, and tells servants to pick up the costumes for the theatre-under-production... (still on the drawing board actually... )

ten Minutes later

I heard that you got my shipment, MRed...what do you think? Do you have anything else, that could be useful in my theater that we could barter for?
