A few of you may have bumped into the straw thread on the Game Help forum and wondered:
"What the >bleeep< is this doing here."

So I might as well open up a nice piece of prime forum estate and hand it over to MRed.

Dear Lady Red
I understand from certain other missives I've received that you have camped out in On and met with succes.

I myself have finished the pyramid complex at Meidum, but was promoted before my own little pyramid was finished. Having visited Behun at an earlier time I moved my servants to Dashur to start Snefru's Bent Pyramid.

The tea was lovely and my man was very pleased by your gift.

Kind regards

Angel Jayhawk

PS. I have found out that careful garden landscaping will keep the hippos out.

Wendoolicus: Have patience, my dear. I have sent, by the fastest carts I have, 14 kegs of my finest Egyptian beer, 12 bottles of the Londinium wine, and 12 bundles of the super energy herbals I have developed.... In return, please send 2 cartloads of corndogs....I sure miss Pedro..

Liz: Perry is on his way, with 14 of my fastest camels in tow..Also, check Perry's saddlebags, he is carrying some of the extra strength herbals.....could you send me a keg of Maria's margaritas? this would be greatly appreciated.

Glad you guys are holding up. My mission at the Dakhla Oasis is frustrating, but I am hanging in there....

Unfortunately MRed your supplies of beer and herbals arrived a little too late. In desperation, I had already started on my own jugs of margueritas (from my personal emergency stash hidden away in the C3 Recovery Room - in a safe place where Tusky couldn't get his hands on it).

After having 14 jugs of margueritas (hondelay ), you're never going to believe this - but I swear by the great pharonic King Rooten-Tooten-Kamin-Amin it happened!

Anyway, I think I may have fallen asleep - I still can't tell if this is real or not. In my dream, there I was, toiling away in the midday sun of Egypt (don't they EVER have night time in Egypt?) - getting a nice suntan while overseeing the building of my first mastaba - when all of a sudden a huge sand storm blew up - it was the mightiest sandstorm you've ever seen - the wind howled and sand went everywhere.

After it all settled down again, I found myself miles away frlom my city, sitting on the side of the road, stunned and bewildered. I was just picking myself up, straightening my clothes and rubbing the sand from my eyes - and whooooooooooaa - who should be standing there right in front of me? - (he appeared right out of the blue, I swear) - but that rugged ole wily-snake Mexican called Zorro-Ishaius himself!!!! (For those who weren't there, I have had previous unfortunate experiences with this dubious character over in C3) .

I immediately leapt into action, and was just about to pull out the old scimitar and prepare for a good fight - when he said to me:

Eeeeeeeh Weneees - I come een peace - theese ees my way of settling our deeferences - I have brought you zeee geeft of 2000 chileee corn dogs.

Well I was stunned - you could've knocked me down with an ostrich feather!!!!!

Then, while I turned to look at the elephant-loads of chile corn dogs - just as quickly as he appeared, he disappeared again!!!! - and I was left standing there in the middle of the dessert - just the me, the cactus and the corndogs.

I started to walk back to my city, but the heat of the sun must've got to me after a while (no water, lugging all those corndogs in 110 degree sun ) - and before too long I felt the ground moving underneath me and then - I think I passed out again.

The next thing I know is that I woke up in my bed this morning at home here in Saqqara, with a terrible thumping headache and a very queasy tummy - and to my absolute horror and despair - there was a huge ZEEEEEEEEE imprinted onto my forehead, and chile sauce dripping from my chin. (That Zorro - I'll get him yet!!!!)

Er....anyway MRed.......I guess this is a round-about-way of telling you - I ate the corn dogs )

Ah, Wendoolicus.....it sounds like you have had a really big day or two...

I, on the other hand, have just struggled through a massive attack from the Henen-nesw warriors, and lost about half of my troops. Plus a couple of storage yards brimming with pottery and beer and Ra only knows what else.....Built a Sun Temple, a small pyramid, and just barely had finished with the embalming of ole Uncle Oscaremhotep, when my palace was OVERRUN by thieves!!!!! What a week. I am now on my way to Menat-Khufu, to attempt to build a prosperous city there, with pitiful resources...........

Those corn dogs would have come in handy. We have been starving here, and they would have been a real treat...

Nothing like a fierce fight with warships to build an appetite.

Ah ha - Zorri-Ish - you dare to show your face in Mred's beautiful compound.

But warning - the challenge will not go untaken. Expect me where you least expect to see me heh heh heh (er....BTW - did I mention that I was also a shape-changer??)

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Perry arrived just in time to assist with the backed up laborers when my carpenters ran out of wood on the final course of the N. Dashur pyramid!!!

And the herbals have helped immensely with my stress related anxiety - which is entirely due to Meidum's disgusting habit of keeping all the clay to themselves

Margaritas are on the way, and I have thrown in a few hundred limes and a cart load of salt for those who like extras

Dear Lady MRed,
I've moved North from my previous assignment am now working Snefru's second pyramid. Sofar I've had some trouble with the local bedouins, but my archers have been able to dispatch them rapidly.

If you are in need of Tura limestone shipments please ask.

Yours

MRed lifted her head from her couch, where she has been attempting to recover from a nasty cold......"Kiya, dear, be so kind as to gather me some of the Chamomile and the bark of the aspen. I need a tea that will make me feel better. And, while you are at it, please send some bundles to Wendoolicus and Pharaoh Alan......Thank you so much.."

MRed put her head back down, and as she drifted off to sleep, she gazed over at the half-completed pyramid rising off in the distance...."Tomorrow...." she murmered.....

**Aaaaahhhhhhh-cccchhhhhooooooooooooooooo!!**

MRed looked around the complex for her faithful steward, Kiya...."Kiya, dear, where in the world are you?" Her only reply was another echo of the mighty sneeze that she had just emitted...**aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh-cccchhhoooooooooooooooo!**

"Oh, dear!" said MRed...."seems like everyone in the compound has this nasty cold.." MRed turned and headed for the gardens, where she picked more chamomile and prepared tea for everyone.....

Lady M-Red - eees me Weneeeeees (formally known as Wen N'bet Mer).

I have received ze kind gift of chamomile and bark of ze aspen. Unfortunately, zere was ze small problem with ze bark - it got caught in my throat and I nearly choked. Luckily I had a good apothecary on hand to remove ze splinters, and ze good supply of Egyptian beer to wash it down wiz. (perhaps you do not chew ze aspen bark?)

I have ze excess supplies of silver, copper and linen - so send wiz ze messenger a gift to you - some beautiful silver and copper-inlaid wall murals for your compound. AND newly made sheets with my personal motif , for your extra beds.

I have heard ze rumour that you will be holding ze annual festival in your compound in 15 days time - I am looking forward to coming to visit wiz you in the zis time - perhaps we can do some more trading, and make ze merriment for ze festive season. I am bringing with me a small entourage (of about 100 people, 28 camels and assorted supplies) for ze party.

Please ensure you have ze plentiful supplies of ze best beer for zis grand occasion. My understanding is zat zere will be many, many people from all over ze realm visiting at zees time, so you must prepare ze compound.

May Osiris bring many blessings on you.

"Oh, MY!! 15 days time, huh? Kiya....Gather the workers, there is no time to lose.....OK. Lift that bale, tote that barge...." MRed's whip cracked in the stillness of the compound.."OUCH!!!" MRed cried out as the tail of the whip got tangled in her robes and smartly smacked her on the leg. "Well! I guess we won't be needing that anymore."

The staff ran to and fro, busily gathering the things that they needed to get the compound into shape for the party.

The brewery sprang into action as the cart pushers dropped off bundles of barley, and the weavers did likewise as the flax was deposited on their doorsteps. The dirty clay pit workers struggled mightily with the loads of clay, and the potters shouted for them to hurry with the clay. "We need more kegs for all this beer!" Hustle and bustle became the mode, as the workers all strained at their tasks.......

"UH, er, um....Miss Wennnnnnnn....You are supposed to BREW the bark, and make tea, NOT swallow it........"

Greetings Mred,

You are looking well, recovered from your cold I see

It is possible, at 40 stones a year, that I may possibly be thru with that danged pyramid at North Dashur in time for the party. The Libyans and the Bedhouins, led by the formidable Reckless Rodent have been all to frequent drop-by guests in my growing city. At the moment, food is a problem and I know as soon as I get that under control, some other problem will crop up. (no pun intended)

So, Osiris willing and the if the Nile does rise, I will be at the party. Put me down for bringing some real beer, as usual

p.s. great invitation, Wen

UM........Mz Weeeennnnnnneedi.......

The messengers arrived today with the copper and silver wall murals.....uh...em...er......Was THAT one supposed to be hung in a very, very, very PRIVATE type place??? I sure hope so, as I don't think I will want too many people seeing that one of me....specially without the voluminous robe I usually wear......I will show you where I put it, but it will remain covered for the entirety of the party....

By the way... the compound is really shaping up. Kiya and her staff have been busy as the proverbial hippo, what with the cleaning and rearranging, mopping and dusting, and general chaos they have created. I have ordered in many supplies, but am at a loss as to what to put on the "Bring to the party" list...

Any suggestions?

Lost in the dust...

Hmmm, a party.

Best thing about virtual wine, is that I can't getmuch more than a virtual hangover.

Lady MRed,
I've recently left the plains of Dashur and headed for the delta, On. I did make a small sidestep to have another go at Saqqara.

Hey Wend!

Spotted your new spiffy invite.

I seem to remember errecting some mirrors to illuminate part of the affair some months (or was it years) ago.

I've since been busy on some construction projects.

have any of the mirrors cracked?

Did that magic mirror do the trick?
