I have seen a lot of stories that had been told by people who visited Caesar 3 Heaven daily or regularly. Now I want to start another story that tells a tale of a young citizen who wished to be the next emperor of Rome, but he is just a common citizen of Rome.

I hope that this story will have bring some exciting time in the Community Forum. I also hope that you will help me write this tale.

Story began in Post #1.

Once a young boy inhabited the city of Rome since his birth, which was 16 years ago. His parents were just ordinary citizens who work and pay their taxes to the Roman Government. This boy also have a younger brother of six who will be in school this upcoming fall.

The spring air is warm and sometime chilly in the city that this family live in. Despite the weather, each day the boy and his brother spent 2 hours playing outside. As each play time is over, the boy look up in the sky for a breif moment.

"The sky is high and blue," stopped the boy, "the grass is green, the water is blue, and the sun is high and dry. The dog chased the cat, but cat isn't as strong as the dog. The soldiers fought hard and mean, but what have they accomplished? Our live is fill with hopes, but there is always someone crushing those hopes as I speak."

The boy then look down on the grass and see that he is at the bottom of the something big. His parents doesn't expect much of him, but he just wanted more.

That night at the supper table, young Rubius mentioned his feelings to his father, Marcus Aurellius Lindicus. The old man was heavily into his cups by then and gave the boy a bleary eyed look.

'Common citizens like you and me do not have the time to ponder grandeur' he said, wiping his chin with his toga. 'Our family is neither rich, nor powerful. We have a few friends who have influence with the Senate but no one who could take you into service.'

The sound of rough puking came from the nearby vomitorium. SenetEr emerged, looking ostentatious.

'Too many of those delicious olives, Marcus', said SenetEr, looking green as the olives he left in the other room. 'For a poor, common citizen, you spread a very fine table.'
'Rubius, you don't need to listen to this moaning of your father. His ambition is no deeper than his amphorae. If it's a life of glory that you yearn for, I'll talk to Benson for you. He's the butler to the general of the 11th legion. I'm sure we could buy a commission for you.'

'Buy a commission?!' scoffed Cowia, Rubius' long suffering mother 'We haven't even got enough money for pottery, this house keeps going up and down like a......like a ..well a very up and down thing'

'No blooming olives left either' she scowled at SenetER......'Watch the kids Marcus whilst I go and clean the Vomitorium'
exit Cowia

'Do you think we really could get Benson to use his influence?' asked Rubius....a gleam of hope and a wish for honour in his young eyes.............

'We'll see him at the bath house tomorrow' stated SenetEr, casually flicking a recalcitrant pimento from the lapel of his toga. 'I can clean up then.'

'That dish of a bath house worker Caylynnia is on tomorrow, isn't she' came the dulcet, yet drunken tones of Marcus, furtively looking around to see if Cowia was lisening.

'That dish is Benson's wife so you better be on your best behavior if we hope to secure something for young Rubius. We don't want him cleaning stables. We want him to be a n officer. Well, I'll see you tomorrow. Have to go roll around in the street a bit'

"What do I have to do?" asked Rubius.

"First," said SenetEr, "parental permission. Since you are poor, the parental permission will overlook that little detail."

"My parent doesn't want me be big," said Rubius, "How can I get their permission."

"Dunno," said SenetEr, "However, the rewards are great if you can get their permission."

"How can I buy a commission without money?" asked Rubius.

"Benson will take care of that once you have the O.K. from your folks." said SenetEr.

Cowia cleaned the vomitorium. She was resigned to her life of brining up her family. Things could be better, then again they could be worse.....There was always her part-time job at the market. She loved it....
'Best get going or I'll be late...."

Rubius cleared his throat
'Father, we need to talk. I want your blessing to join the army. SenetEr has a plan to get my commission. But I need your blessing.'

Marcus Lindicus put down his flagon.
'No son of mine is going to join the army. What's wrong with the life of a furniture maker. Could be worse. You could be born into a family of bloody clay pit diggers!'

'But father, I feel I'm destined for greatness. There is stardust in my future, not sawdust!'

Marcus sighed and shuffled his bulk.
'I'll give you my blessing if you get me another flagon, and if you stop talking like a dang fool actor. We never should have moved in next to the colony. And chase that fool line of boys away from the house. Tell them it's your mother's day off!'

Now it so happened that Benson and his wife Caylynnia lived in the General's household, in the servants quarters as befit their station. Nevertheless, since Benson was a rather important servant, being the General's butler, they had an elevated status among the servants and thus had their own private rooms.

While Benson was busy serving the General, Caylynnia was engaged in a strenuous workout in their quarters. Bath girls, after all, had to retain their lovely, youthful looks, otherwise they would be quickly dismissed from service. Caylynnia still had the figure of a girl half her age, but she worked hard to keep herself trim and fit.

At that moment, Caylynnia was putting herself through a calisthenics routine, not all that different from that of a Roman solider. Perspiration glistened on her body, lending her skin a healthy glow. Her long, lustrous hair was drawn up in a queue, out of the way, but it shone brightly, even in the muted light of the small room. It was easy to see why she was considered a 'dish', as horrified as she would have been to have heard such an expression used in her presence.

Rubius walked slowly towards the bath house the next day. Inside he was running, but in reality he was trudging. Marcus and SenetEr were really slowing him down. SenetEr was rubbing his toga and licking his fingers.

'You know, these olives really do taste better the second time aound. Well Marcus, today is the lads big day. Today makes or breaks his future. Let's stop by the oracle on the way to the bath house.'

'Braaap!' came the noisome, and fruitily aromatic reply. 'You'd think the boy'd end up emperor the way you go on. shameless foreshadowing Anyone ever tell you that you are given to display and like to show off?'

'Watch it. I have a large catapult and I'll hurl a rock at your drunken head.'

They arrived at the oracle. The last Emperor had captured it at Delphi and brought it to Rome in his Triumph they made cars bigger in those days. The priestess, Wendoolicus, was inhaling incense from a large bowl and chanting 'I've got the munchies... I've got the munchies.'

'Ave, oracle'
'Namaste, oh chunky green one'

At that moment, Rubius emerged from behind the ample shade of the older men and...

Marcus Lindicus, I think you are Rubius's father. Read the earlier posts and see if you can come into the story more often. I think Caesar Alan will be so happpy after this little contribution.

"Please tell me my future, wise Wendoolicus," said Rubius.

"Your future is blissful only if you are careful," said Wendoolicus, "Caesar Alan is a big man and you are small. You will meet a commander who will help you in the future."

"Thank you," said Rubius and out he went.

"What did the wise Wendoolicus told you?" asked SenetEr.

Let see, we have two couple in this little tale. Cowpattieann as Cowia is married to Marcus Lindicus, they are Rubius's parents, and Benson is married to Caylynn. This is so much fun and interesting.

'She told me to beware of Caesar Alan and to watch for a commander who can help me in the future. She also told me that if I find the ruby slippers, all I need to do is click my heels together and say "there's no place like Rome" three times. Then she stole my bag of apples that mom packed for me and ate them all mumbling "munchies, munchies"'

SenetEr looked concerned.

'Now why would she warn you about Caesar. He has been known to crush the odd governor now and then, but why he take notice of you? The commander must mean the general. This bodes well. Our mission to see Benson at the baths will surely be a success.'

They trudged on as fast as their sandals could take them. Marcus had several heart attacks along the way that might have proved fatal if it were not for the timely interventions of Doctor CPR_CoCreatus, well renowned for the invention of the well-water enema. They were soon at the bathhouse, sweaty, dusty messes. Marcus looked a little fuller in the belly and slightly flushed. Caylynn was there to greet them.

take it away Caylynn

Young Rubius was blissful. If SenetEr thought that something boded well, then it must. Marcus walked up slowly to the starry eyed boy and cuffed him on the back of the head. "Quit day dreaming boy! Here we are. Well go on in."
