I just bought Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom and waiting for it to arrive. I'm just happy that there's still a community here for city-building games. I was all worried nobody plays this stuff anymore

Hi breadloaf and welcome to HeavenGames
There are still people learning to know the CityBuilder games as some of them are available on gog.com.

Well I suppose people would know more than me but is there any recent city building games? I know the indie market is likely to be the best bet nowadays since it's a niche thing.

The newest by the people who made Caesar 3 is Caesar IV. The newest city builder style game I know of is Banished which is a pure city builder (no military). It's available on Steam and also on gog.com.

Yeah I have that one. It's like the super starvation simulator :P It's pretty fun though.
I'm also in the Clockwork Empires alpha, not quite a city builder in the same vein... a lot more micro oriented. I've basically been trying out every single city builder. My copy of Emperor should arrive next week (I hope).
