Located in the centre of the castle of Ehb, you see pleasant looking three story building. As you walk up to it, you see a sign above the door way saying 'The Inndom of Ehb'. You step inside and look around. There are many elves, dwarves and men sitting around the bar, drinking, eating and talking. In the corner, a large warm fire blazes. Upstairs there are many rooms with comftable bed where a weary traveller can rest. Here you can chat about whatever you please or have a meal or just spend time with friends.

Ah. Sorry I didn't reply. The problem is that Stronghold Legends' Help forum is one of the most inactive forums, so I don't check it oftenly. Anyways, have you installed it? We could talk about it here. I got it some time ago and have been playing regularly...

This afternoon, my desktop was hit by the Great Power Failure of Ultimate DOOM. Fried the PSU, and I'm praying it didn't fry anything else.

I would have rolled up my sleeves and fixed it right away, but all the small businesses in town just had to be closed today - so no way of getting a replacement PSU until tomorrow. So here I am, using a laptop that barely has enough RAM to run windows, and whining/griping/snarling/trying not to go homicidal.

Lord Micheal, I've noticed that it is inactive, still no reply and it's been a couple of days. Anyway, I haven't gotten the game yet.

QuickDraw, you have my sympathies, if that happened to me, I'd have to get someone else to fix it, I'm not computer illiterate, but I'm just past Dick and Jane.

Well, at least it's only a day and you've got a way to communicate. Imagine three months without a PC and no other way ot go on the net

3 months with no net... That would be scary

I'm fitting the replacement PSU as we speak, so I should have the desktop back in service by the end of the evening. Just need to double back and check over all the power couplings and look around for scorch marks on the other components. One thing that does annoy me a little is that the power coupling for the floppy drive isn't long enough to reach my floppy drive, so I'm going to have to say goodbye to 3 1/4" discs for a while until I can rearrange the hardware.

PC repair isn't all that difficult, once you work out which part goes where. A lot of it is idiot proof as the connections are designed so that if a part isn't meant to go into a certain slot, it won't even fit into that slot

Right... Back to work for me! I'll post later on to let you guys know how the surgery went

True for most things, but there are parts (RAM for example) that are more like "fits barely into the slot when put in with quite some force". Or the connector for the harddrive that is like "I got it in but how do I get it out?". That's when it gets scary

Oh, and if these power surges/failures happen relatively often, it might be a good idea to invest in a surge protector..

The phone cable can be plugged into a LAN port with no problems. Luckily nothing bad happens, only lack of connection.

The power connector to a floppy drive can be installed upside-down, luckily it's rare something bad happens and floppy drives are cheap.

The data cable for a floppy drive can also often be installed upside-down. The floppy drive will not work but has a tell-tale sign in that the light on it always being 'On'.

I've seen a few cases where someone have managed to install the power connector on a CD drive upside-down, the risk of a dead CD drive is higher as with the floppy drive but there's still a high chance the drive will survive.

With some IDE cables it's possible to plug the cable upside-down into the connector on he harddisk, luckily the only thing that happens is the computer can not find the harddisk.

When SATA arrived the connector was a bit too loose leading to the BIOS or OS loosing the connection to a harddisk. Problem got solved but unfortunately led to the connector on the motherboard following the cable when removing the cable thereby leaving 4 thin pins sticking up on the motherboard. I can tell from experience it's a bit difficult to get those thin pins back in place in the plastic connector... Solution is holding the connector with one hand while gently wriggling/pulling the cable with the other hand. Take precautions against ESD as you are bound to touch some of the more delicate parts on the motherboard.

Back in the day lots of people have crushed a AMD Athlon XP CPU by installing the heatsink turned the wrong way around so the indent in the heatsink was NOT over the hinge for the CPU locking lever. Problem is that the Athlon XP CPU is not protected by a heat spreader, luckily AMD re-introduced the heatspreader on the Athlon 64 CPUs. Intel has allways used heatspreaders or other types of protection on their CPUs.

If not carefull there's a risk the tiny fingers on the back I/O plate will get into the USB ports. If you are unlucky the port is shorted when you start the computer and the onboard USB is dead. If the USB port is part of the southbridge your motherboard might get ruined.

Also, if you accidentally stuff your computer with nitroglycerin and then accidentally light it on fire, it will probably explode. Your warranty probably doesn't cover that, and it definitely won't cover shrapnel removal from you.

Just felt like I should warn everybody.

Good to know your PC's coming along. I hope that never happens to me because I don't know anything about repāiring computers and, luckily, I have a power Surge I hope will prevent that from happening.

It's all working again, except for the floppy drive... Although I'll admit to barely using that so I guess I can manage without it. Everything else seems to be running within normal parameters (whatever "normal" is when you have a system that's jury-rigged like mine).

I spent last night doing a full system test by doing a 5 hour bender playing Guild Wars. My baby Warrior finally got the last 15 attribute points, capped Defy Pain and Cleave, and rescued that moron Evennia (AKA Queen Leroy) from the Mursaat in the Ice Caves mission. Later tonight I'm taking him up to the Mineral Springs for Skull Crack and Flourish, and then running him through the Iron Mines mission

So yeah, I'm in a good mood

"Skull Crack?" That's an actual skill? The skill of hitting people really hard on their head?

We also have "Vertebrae Crack," "Fibula Crack," and "Metacarpal Crack." For all your bone-breaking needs!

It's an actual skill... Can be used with any melee weapon, costs 9 strikes of adrenaline (very expensive), interrupts the target's action, and inficts 10 seconds of Dazed (basically shuts down a spellcaster for the duration) if you manage to interrupt a spell with it.

Not really worth the elite slot on my bar, so I'll be sticking to Savage Slash as my melee interrupt and Quivering Blade in my elite slot. Though perhaps one of my melee heroes will be able to get some use out of it.

Although if you want some other real skills to make jokes about, go no further than the Paragon's collection of shout skills... Such classics as "It's Just a Flesh Wound!", "Can't Touch This!" and "The Power is Yours!"

He's talking about Guild Wars, a WoW-esque MMORPG.

Neo's probably sold us out for his girlfriend. There is a code, you know: Renegades before hos. Hoes? Hose? Whatever.

Quick, somebody add that to the topic post!

It's not an MMORPG, it's a CCORPG (Cooperative/Competitive Online RolePlaying Game). And you should all try it out, because it has no monthly subscription fees or hidden charges

Neo is probably spending time with his girlfriend. I can understand that. I think most of us would probably do the same
